The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 103.1
Prince Tarensiu, or rather, Prince Shaiman, was left alone, his gaze vacant.
He had thought he hadn’t revealed his feelings to Leslun, but…
“Is it because of my abilities that he noticed so quickly?”
He hadn’t been able to express his feelings while in disguise, but since Leslun had already seen through him, there was nothing he could do.
“I should go back quickly,” he thought. He would appear before Leslun as the prince and confess his feelings.
But as soon as he made up his mind, an image of Crown Prince Kailos appeared. When had Kailos known about his true identity? Kailos had been cleverly feigning ignorance. He was a formidable opponent.
Even Leslun seemed quite concerned about Kailos. Yet, Prince Shaiman wasn’t worried.
“That man can’t properly see my true feelings,” he reasoned.
Kailos lacked the experience and ability to understand his own destiny. Prince Shaiman, who had observed Kailos from a distance, wasn’t particularly concerned.
The only important thing was to return before Leslun forgot about him.
“He knew… he knew…”
Prince Shaiman murmured to himself, his voice filled with excitement, unaware that Leslun only knew him as the prince.

As soon as Kailos entered the prison, the atmosphere changed instantly.
Count Maven, who had been sitting on the bed, jumped up as if he had heard the footsteps of an executioner. He grabbed the bars, leaning forward to call out to Kailos.
“Your Highness, it’s all a misunderstanding! Everything is a mistake!”
His voice, as if he had been drowned in ice water, was desperate, but his eyes still sparkled with indignation and anger.
Count Maven, who had been brought in without knowing the charges, denied everything without understanding the accusations against him. However, Kailos looked down at him indifferently.
“Seems like you haven’t figured out the situation yet,” he said, his voice trailing off with a chill. Kailos’s gaze swept over the prison.
“There’s a bed and a window… I guess you’re feeling comfortable, so other thoughts are coming to mind,” he remarked. Although the prison was enclosed on all sides, Count Maven’s cell was relatively comfortable. Instead of a rough straw mat, there was a bed with a mattress, and a small window that let in the breeze. It was far from the cold, damp air of the torture chamber.
If Leslun or Count Camilo had been caught in the act, they would have been thrown into the torture chamber. Count Maven was only under suspicion, not yet convicted.
Despite the relatively livable conditions, Count Maven’s mindset was understandable. He, who had lived a life of luxury, couldn’t accept that he was now in prison.
“Then think about it some more,” Kailos said, turning away without hesitation. His footsteps echoed off the prison’s stone floor, growing fainter.
“Wait, Your Highness!”
Count Maven reached out towards Kailos, but when he saw that Kailos didn’t stop and kept walking away, he suddenly shouted,
“What did I do wrong? I will formally object!”
His cry was filled more with a sense of humiliation than fear. Kailos half-turned to look at him.
“Go ahead,” he said, as confident as ever.
Count Maven, on the other hand, became more anxious at Kailos’s assured response. He bit his lip, deep in thought, and then closed his mouth.
He was likely considering other methods, probably involving the Empress. Kailos could see right through Count Maven’s thoughts and smiled faintly. While he was curious about what the Empress would do, he didn’t feel particularly moved.
Kailos didn’t linger any longer. He had more people to see today.
As he walked down a darker corridor, the musty air was mixed with the rough breathing and moans of a man. The guard opened the door, and a man who had been slouched in a chair looked up. It was Count Camilo.
Even his shadow looked emaciated. Deep melancholy had carved his features, and his dull eyes were filled with fear.
When he saw Kailos, he trembled all over, trying to stand up. The legs of the chair scraped against the stone floor with a harsh sound.
“Crown Prince, please spare my life. Just this once, please forgive me,” he pleaded, his voice already admitting guilt and begging for mercy.
A subtle interest flickered in Kailos’s eyes at the sound of Count Camilo’s voice.
“Seems like this one is ready to talk,” Kailos murmured, his voice unexpectedly gentle. Count Camilo forced a smile, pulling up the corners of his mouth.
“Ask me anything. I’ll tell you everything,” he offered.
“Hmm…”
