Although Empress Tera had brought down the Emperor, it was by no means a wise move.

Kailos Delroi was still the first in line for the throne.

It was an impulsive and deeply emotional decision, unlike anything the Empress had ever done before.

“Justification can always be fabricated. But I want to understand how she did it. This isn’t enough.”

Kailos rubbed his chin as he looked at the pile of documents.

He knew that the Empress had acted, but there was no solid evidence.

When the Emperor was found collapsed, she had been greeting Count Maven as he left the prison. There was no decisive proof.

“What did they say caused Father’s collapse?”

“They have not been able to determine the exact cause.”

“What is his condition now?”

“He is unconscious. He suffers occasional seizures, and the intervals between them are getting shorter.”

“Then his life could be in danger at any moment.”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

For a moment, the air in the room grew heavy.

Kailos tapped his finger against the desk in a steady rhythm before murmuring quietly.

“To resolve a situation without knowing the cause… this is troublesome.”

Even in such circumstances, Leslun had been certain that the herbs from the Kingdom of Vancor would help.

How had he known that?

“It seems I will not be able to see His Majesty. The area is under strict control.”

If the Empress was blocking access, that meant the most important clue lay there.

“If necessary, I can force my way in.”

Kailos’s gaze sharpened. The most difficult question slipped from his mouth.

“But tell me.”

He muttered.

“Who is helping the Empress?”

Robin shook his head with a grim expression.

“We have investigated from every angle, but we have found nothing.”

“She must have been preparing for this day for a long time. It will not be easy to expose her.”

Just then, light footsteps echoed from beyond the door.

It was Lady Miroi.

“The Duke would not have sent her here himself. To think she came here personally in such chaos.”

Kailos frowned slightly.

With the Emperor down, every noble was busy calculating their own advantage, weighing gain and loss.

Yet Miroi had ignored such things and came straight to find Kailos and Robin.

“The head of the academy has been replaced.”

Kailos did not look surprised. Rather, curiosity appeared on his face.

Miroi spoke earnestly about what had happened at Wisley Academy.

The day after news spread that the former head collapsed, another had already taken his place.

Since the former head’s seal was stamped on the document, it was accepted as legitimate, but the identity of the new head remained unclear.

“Something has definitely happened inside the academy. And there is something worse… rumors are already spreading.”

Miroi spoke with a serious expression.

“They say the former head had dealings with the Kingdom of Vancor. The suspicion is growing instead of dying down.”

“Then it seems she prepared more than one move.”

Kailos was convinced that the Empress had her hand in this as well.

Leslun finally obtained the herb he had been looking for.

By luck, he found a herb dealer willing to sell the plant with its roots intact.

He paid without hesitation.

The task ended sooner than expected, and although he felt relieved, a strange unease passed through him.

Sensing his mood, the Crown Prince gave an order to his attendant.

“Escort him back to the Empire.”

“What? No, that will not be necessary. I can travel on my own.”

Leslun waved his hands.

It was not because of his status. He simply did not want to trouble them.

But the Crown Prince shook his head and pointed toward an approaching carriage.

It was a plain one, without a single emblem.

One of the things Leslun had been most worried about was now gone.

When the Crown Prince gestured for him to board first, he finally bowed in gratitude.

“I will not forget this favor.”

Truthfully, he wanted to return to the Empire as soon as possible.

It was wiser to repay the offer with thanks than to refuse it.

However, instead of saying farewell, the Crown Prince climbed into the carriage with him.

“You are… coming with me?”

Leslun’s eyes widened in surprise.

The Crown Prince paused for a moment as if thinking, then spoke.

“We never had our debate.”

No matter how it sounded, it felt like a flimsy excuse.

“Ah, if that is the case…”

Leslun hesitated for a moment before replying.

“It was postponed.”

A wrinkle formed between the Crown Prince’s brows.

Leslun looked at Prince Shaiman with curious eyes.
