The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 135.2
“What do you mean?”
“In the past, I wanted the throne that much.”
His tone was light and simple, like a child saying he wanted a piece of candy.
“So I did all sorts of things. I tried to marry Miroi to draw on the Duke’s power, and I built the Academy to gather students and expand my influence.”
Kailos listed the things he had done over the years.
“And that’s not all. With the Empress, we were always at each other’s throats. We hid our true thoughts and exchanged only words laced with daggers. And with Cassian…”
Kailos trailed off, lost in thought.
But Leslun could guess what he wanted to say.
“I wasn’t a proper brother to him. All of it feels so meaningless now.”
When Kailos spoke again, he laid bare all the tangled emotions he had carried inside.
“Did I really want the throne?”
At that question, which brought everything back to the beginning, Leslun quietly looked at him.
What pained this man most must have been…
Instead of answering, Leslun pulled him into an embrace.
Kailos, startled, still managed to hold him by the back.
“I want to be your family, Kail.”
Kailos’s body stiffened at Leslun’s declaration. His already firm frame grew even tenser.
Still, Leslun held him tightly.
“I will make sure you are never lonely for the rest of your life, Your Highness.”
The Crown Prince wanted a family.
Not one built upon titles or recognition, but one that could accept each other’s existence as natural and unquestionable.
Kailos wrapped his arms around Leslun’s back.
“Then shall we get married?”
The whisper brushed against his ear, and Leslun, startled, lost his grip. But because Kailos was still holding him, they did not fall apart.

As the Emperor regained consciousness, the chaos in the Imperial Palace gradually subsided. Though he still could not rise from his sickbed, at least there was time now to bring order to things.
With the Empress and Prince Cassian returning to the palace, it almost felt as though everything had gone back to how it was before. But…
“Leslun, you still haven’t answered me.”
Kailos spoke in a dissatisfied tone, sitting slouched in his chair.
Leslun pretended not to hear and continued sorting through the documents for approval. The urgent requests should be placed at the top.
But Kailos was not the type to give up easily.
“If you keep pretending not to hear, I won’t sit quietly either.”
He went as far as to threaten him outright.
“It’s only been two days, Your Highness. Please give me a little more time.”
Leslun sighed, trying to calm him.
“Only two days? It’s already been two days.”
“For me, that’s far too short.”
“Is that so? The Imperial Capital managed to return to order at that time. Yet you think it’s too short?”
Though Kailos spoke as if teasing, his impatience was clear.
Even knowing that, Leslun still found it difficult to answer.
“Please review these documents first, Your Highness. They are concerned about the territorial dispute…”
“Do whatever you want.”
Kailos finally decided to be completely unreasonable.
“Instead of always asking for permission, why don’t you just fight boldly for once?”
“That’s not what this is. They are requesting mediation.”
“I know that. But why are they asking me to mediate? Is that written in law somewhere?”
“Well, no, but…”
“Then there’s no law against us getting married either, is there?”
Once again, the conversation came full circle.
Leslun felt a strong urge to avoid the Crown Prince, the one person he wanted to see the most.
“I’ll think about it a little more.”
“Then stop worrying about whatever’s holding you back. I have a way to take care of it.”
Kailos cut off every excuse Leslun could have used to refuse.
“Shouldn’t you be visiting His Majesty instead?”
Even if everything else had returned to normal, the Emperor was far from healthy. It might soon be time to face the inevitable.
Kailos shook his head.
“Robin is there. I don’t need to worry.”
“Even so…”
“Changing the subject won’t work. I’m going to propose to you all day.”
“Your Highness…”
“Marry me, Leslun.”
“Please stop…”
It was exasperating. Leslun silently prayed that someone—anyone—would walk in at that moment.
Usually, Blue would have appeared in times like this, but today, not even a feather was in sight.
