The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 27.1
There was something else that caught his attention. The palm of that hand was soft and pleasant to the touch, and the way it stroked animals was delicate.
It could not be compared to the hard, rough palms he had known before. Those hands that had once rudely thrust themselves into the cage and pawed about were on an entirely different level.
His sleeping habits were calm, he touched the places Blue liked, and he never ceased paying attention. Above all, his eyes were good.
The human voice that responded to the cat’s cries was also quite pleasing.
Blue.
Not a bad resonance. Only then did he finally accept that name as his own.
Escaping the yoke of fate had been interesting enough, but afterward, he truly began to like this human.
The human’s hair was as soft as his own fur, and he was not frivolous.
Blue found it irritating whenever he remembered how other humans had been startled every time they saw the Emperor’s bloodline—so much so that Blue himself had been startled as well. But this human, though surprised, did not recoil greatly; instead, he tried to protect Blue first.
Most of all, the best part was that his instincts regarded this human as a sanctuary.
That gentle energy flowing through the human was something he deeply liked.
Had he not stumbled upon him first, the other animals living in this palace would have been drawn to him immediately.
Beasts lacking intelligence like his own would never savor it quietly—they would simply pounce and devour him. To ruin a lasting delight for a moment’s pleasure was something incomprehensible from a Guardian Beast’s perspective.
In that sense, the current bloodline was not entirely trustworthy.
He knew this because he had occasionally shared senses with him until now. Though Blue had kindly allowed him to experience this fragrance firsthand, he seemed filled with the thought of devouring this human in one bite.
“When His Highness held me, his heart raced, and his whole face turned red.”
At the human’s words, said while rubbing his cheek with one hand, Blue hesitated. For humans, a racing heart came either in battle with an enemy, or when they loved another human.
It seemed this human liked that bloodline. Quietly, where the human could not see, Blue shook his head.
He had already been troubled about the Crown Prince’s future.
It would be best if he simply ascended as Emperor without trouble. Yet from all sides, people would not leave the Crown Prince alone. Like drops of black ink falling into clear water, the persistent harassment had sharpened him in the end.
He was not yet dangerous, but if it continued, it would be disastrous.
Blue wanted him to become Emperor, but at this rate, he might stray from that path.
How could he be made to sit securely on the throne? Just then, the right person appeared.
Changing fate was very simple. All it took was for one who had slipped free of its orbit to draw another along.
Blue devised a way to keep both the Crown Prince and Leslun by his side.

“What is it that Your Highness wants from me?”
After sending Leslun the aide away, Baron Kelly faced Kailos with a smile.
Kailos’s lips were smiling, but his eyes were not smiling in the least. It was not a genuine smile. Which meant he had not come to the Academy with a light heart.
Kailos spoke without hesitation, bringing forth what he had already had in mind.
“Do you know why I recommended you as Headmaster?”
Of course, he never began directly with the point. Baron Kelly, who had inferred as much from the earlier conversation, simply waited in silence.
“It was not my idea, but that of Aide Leslun.”
Baron Kelly’s eyes widened.
“He told me to choose you instead of Vincent. That it was not for him to decide how to fill this Academy.”
The sight of him drawing such a clear line came vividly to Kailos’s mind. That had left quite an impression on him.
Since he himself had been entrusted with overseeing the establishment of the Academy, he had been concerned with what would follow, but Leslun’s words had made him rethink matters.
“Why was it that I could not trust you?”
Kailos murmured as he looked at Baron Kelly. It sounded like he was speaking to himself, and yet there was a pressure in his tone.
“In that sense, I have chosen to think very well of you. Isn’t it that I’ve lifted one hand from the problem you were meant to resolve?”
Baron Kelly closed his eyes briefly, then opened them and steadied his breath. He knew better than anyone that in this situation, saying he could not do it, or offering excuses, was impossible.
