The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 29.2
“That wretched cat…” Kailos let out a laugh of disbelief. But there was a faint shiver in that laughter. He had thought it was the Empress who had brought him to this state—but it wasn’t.
Behind Leslun, Blue’s eyes gleamed as he stared at Kailos. They weren’t their usual amber color, but instead had changed to a fathomless blue, like a deep lake, fixed unwaveringly on him.
Blue’s power was to manipulate a person’s mind. Whether it was because of the necklace’s influence, or simply because of some grievance he held, Kailos didn’t know. But one thing was certain: Blue was trying to make trouble for him.
“Still… I didn’t expect this.”
The instant Kailos felt the breath of the frozen, unmoving Leslun against him, his thighs tensed with heat.
Leslun wasn’t just pale-skinned and soft. On closer inspection, there were plenty of things about him that stirred his appetite. His neat, unchangingly pleasant face carried an air of austerity that only made it more alluring; his lips were plump enough that Kailos wanted to bite into them immediately. Added to that was his sweet breath, and those deep, arresting eyes that seemed to seize hold of a man’s very heart.
Leslun, in his entirety, was temptation itself.
‘Was I really someone who lusted after men?’
Until now, Kailos had held no real interest in sex. Many had tried to seduce him, but not one had succeeded. He knew there were those who mingled freely regardless of gender—but he had always assumed he wasn’t among them. Now, that assumption was wavering.
“If you keep standing there like that…”
The sight of Leslun frozen in shock ignited an impulse in him. To anyone else, it might look as if Leslun had fallen under Blue’s mind control. Kailos wanted to claim his lips then and there—but what if it caused more trouble?
“I might end up kissing you.”
His voice returned to its usual timbre at the same moment Leslun seemed to snap out of a trance, startling and stumbling back in a panic. His foot caught, and he toppled backward.
It could have ended with the back of his head slamming against the floor—but Kailos caught him by the waist and pulled him in.
Their stomachs collided. Their legs tangled.
Leslun’s back hit a shelf tightly packed with books. The heavy bookcase rattled, echoing through the library, grounding the moment in sharp reality. Heat surged through Leslun’s face.
“Is this my reward for restraining myself just now?”
Kailos did not bother hiding his pleased smile.
Leslun tried to steady himself, then froze—Kailos’s arm was still locked firmly around his waist.
Their breaths were close. So close that it felt like their noses might touch, like his breath was brushing directly against Leslun’s skin.
For an instant, Kailos’s lips grazed the side of Leslun’s neck. Then they pulled away.
It lasted only a moment, but it felt as though time itself had stopped.
A pleasant fragrance lingered.
Kailos murmured softly, his low voice traveling straight up to Leslun’s ear and tickling it.
…He was aroused.
At such close proximity, Kailos could feel the reaction immediately. He gave a low chuckle.
“So… am I meant to take this as an invitation?” Kailos whispered.
Leslun shook his head hastily. And yet, he did not break free from the Prince’s arms. If he tried, Kailos would see that he had already yielded to temptation.
Leslun could feel his own heartbeat hammering faster and faster, the tremor in his arms growing more pronounced.
“If you keep looking at me like that… I really might kiss you.”
Kailos’s brows drew together slightly. His expression was one of someone suppressing a deep, gnawing desire.
Leslun’s lips grew dry.
“…No. You mustn’t.”
The words escaped him in a thin, fragile voice.
“I know. You told me I should try to be a good man.”
Kailos laughed softly as he leaned his forehead against Leslun’s. That faint touch sent a jolt like an electric current running through Leslun’s entire body.
Their breaths mingled. His exhale brushed Leslun’s cheek, leaving a dizzying trace in its wake.
“I’m holding back right now… just for a moment.”
His fingers slid lightly along the edge of Leslun’s collar. It was the faintest contact, through the smooth fabric, but the sensation spread shivers down his spine.
If those fingers strayed even a little lower…
“But if I keep receiving such beautiful gifts as today… even I may not be able to endure it.”
