The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 59.2
“Well, then helping you is just my choice.”
Kailos had already soaked a towel in water.
“I’ll help you wash your face first.”
Leslun was at a loss for words, staring blankly at him.
“You might not know this, but you won’t feel uncomfortable while sleeping.”
As Kailos wiped Leslun’s face with the towel, Leslun couldn’t push his hand away and stiffened.
At first, it felt awkward. But as his body gradually relaxed, he noticed Kailos’s touch was surprisingly gentle.
He shouldn’t rely on this…
“I’m sorry.”
The sensation of the towel wiping his face paused for a moment before continuing.
“What are you sorry for?”
“For letting my guard down.”
Kailos paused while wiping Leslun’s cheek with the towel and met his gaze.
“Letting your guard down……. You said you didn’t eat anything other than the wine Robin gave you.”
Although there was no specific need to be cautious about what he ate, it wasn’t entirely his fault either.
“You don’t think you’ll stop eating altogether, do you?”
Leslun flinched, and Kailos exhaled shortly before speaking.
“Don’t worry about this incident. It wasn’t poisoned. It was just a light prank.”
“It wasn’t a prank.”
What if they had targeted someone else with the drug? But he had been careless, thinking only about attending the academy.
“Your thoughts are so transparent. I can see right through them.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Apologies are enough. Just remember what happened between us. And eat when you need to. Nothing will happen now.”
Leslun briefly lowered his eyes at the low, resonant voice.
Kailos slowly spoke as he soaked the towel in water again.
“Don’t try to handle everything on your own. Seeing your face makes me want to do it again.”
Leslun blushed with embarrassment and gripped the sheet. A heavy silence fell, and then the towel gently wiped his forehead. The chill seemed to ease the remaining heat.
“Thank you.”
He expressed his gratitude for Kailos’s help, which had been overshadowed by their intimate encounter. If Kailos hadn’t been there, he might have spent the night with someone else.
“Is that all?”
Kailos asked as he took back the towel.
“Like, was my touch warm? Did you feel good? Something like that.”
“……”
Leslun turned away, taking the towel from Kailos. As he wiped his sweaty skin, Kailos’s gaze felt piercingly intense.
“Step back from your duties as a secretary.”
At that moment, Leslun’s hand stopped. He unconsciously gripped the towel tightly, unable to maintain his composure. It was what he had expected, but facing the reality was unsettling. He wondered if he could still attend the academy.
Visiting his parents might not be a leisurely time for classes. Accepting reality quickly and finding another path was Leslun’s strength.
When he turned to look at Kailos, his expression was calm. He needed to accept it as well.
“Focus on the academy until it opens.”
At first, Leslun didn’t understand Kailos’s words.
“During that time, Robin will handle things alone, but he’s used to it, so there won’t be any major issues.”
Leslun was speechless. Although Kailos had told him to step back, there was a concern for him underlying those words.
He felt a mix of relief and self-deprecation. He tried not to show any emotion, but it was difficult.
“Including rest. I won’t let you study late.”
Kailos ended with a threat-like tone.
Kailos was still at the academy. Although there was still time until the opening, his stay there posed no problems.
The banquet was held in the wide hall on the lowest floor of the dormitory building. Above this hall, student accommodations extended floor by floor. Currently, most rooms were empty, but some were occupied by guests.
Among them, Crown Prince Kailos had a private space reserved for his sole use on the top floor of the dormitory. This room was designed to be a comfortable stay for him whenever he visited the academy and could also serve as a venue for small meetings or banquets when needed.
Kailos sat at the head of the table, with Leslun and Robin, the secretary, seated across from him.
The atmosphere was quiet, but there was an underlying tension. Leslun kept his eyes down, accepting the gazes directed at him.
