The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 66.1
“Do you dislike it?”
Prince Tarensiu’s low voice came from beside him.
Leslun turned to look at him, not knowing what he meant. Then Tarensiu quietly raised his hand and lightly tapped between Leslun’s brows with his index finger.
“Ah…”
Only then did Leslun realize that he had been frowning without noticing.
“No, not at all.”
Leslun quickly shook his head and corrected his expression.
It was not that strange for Lady Miroi to get along with Cal.
Even if she was someone who drew the Crown Prince’s attention, it was natural for her to associate with the high-ranking nobility of the Empire.
Besides, Cal’s brother Brian was a prominent figure in the Empress’s faction.
In truth, Leslun didn’t want to dwell on such things, nor did he wish to remember them.
The idea of forming relationships based on political alliances or calculations felt unbearably tiring.
Even so, before he realized it, his face had started to heat up.
Leslun cupped his cheek as though to hide the sensation.
The rising heat was not just from emotion.
That night.
The night he had shared an intimate moment with the Crown Prince—
Even through the hazy memory, the name Cal faintly lingered, intertwined.
It was not direct, but he had a vague sense that Cal had had a hand in it.
Perhaps that was why seeing him close to Lady Miroi now felt unpleasant.
“You’re red.”
Tarensiu dropped the words flatly.
It would have been nice if he could have just let it pass.
Leslun lowered his hand, let out a small sigh, and straightened his expression again.
By then, Lady Miroi was already moving toward Cal’s side.
“Sit here. It’s the perfect spot to follow the lecture.”
Cal pointed at the seat with an open smile.
His tone was overly familiar, and his words carried an air of superiority, as if he had the right to choose not just the seat but the company as well.
But Lady Miroi’s response was entirely different.
“Listen well.”
She offered only a brief greeting, passed Cal by, and turned toward the inner seats of the lecture hall.
With that single action, the entire hall fell silent for a moment.
No one had expected that reaction.
Every pair of eyes strained not to miss a single movement of hers.
Miroi soon came to a stop.
Her gaze turned toward the spot where Leslun and Prince Tarensiu were seated.
“I want to sit there.”
She quietly lifted her hand, pointing at the space between Tarensiu and Leslun.
There was no particular reason to choose that spot.
No one in the hall could grasp Miroi’s intention—Leslun included.
He blinked in surprise, flustered.
If she had simply asked for his seat, he would have gladly given it up.
But of all places, why did she insist on slipping between them?
Moreover, he should have asked Prince Tarensiu to stand so that Lady Miroi could pass through, yet he could not bring himself to speak.
Even if Lady Miroi held high status, Prince Tarensiu’s rank was in no way lesser.
After a brief hesitation, Leslun stood.
He carefully slipped through the narrow space between Tarensiu’s back and the desk and chair behind him.
The students sitting in the back row held their breath at the movement, as though it were something significant.
“My Lady, perhaps there is another seat you might prefer.”
Leslun cautiously offered an alternative.
But the moment the words left his mouth, her gaze darkened.
It was an unmistakable rejection—
A warning against the insolence of trying to change her mind.
The atmosphere turned cold.
Then Miroi spoke, her voice gentle.
“Then let’s sit in the back.”
It was unexpectedly flexible.
But the next words were the problem.
“Together.”
She had asked Leslun to come with her.
At that moment, Prince Tarensiu, who had been sitting silently, rose to his feet.
His movement was slow, but because of his imposing build, it felt overwhelming.
When he had been sitting, it was as though he had kept his presence hidden—
But once he stood, the authority and difference in stature became undeniable.
Lady Miroi raised her head and looked at Tarensiu.
No words passed between them, yet a short and heavy silence stretched out.
Leslun felt as if the air had been knocked out of his chest, not knowing why such a standoff had arisen.
All he wanted was to focus on the lecture.
Fortunately, Tarensiu finally picked up his book and moved one seat inward.
