Before he knew it, they were in front of the carriage.

When the coachman opened the door, Kailos looked back at Leslun. Under the hat, his lips were flushed and swollen. It was impossible to tell whether he was weak from exhaustion or simply worn out.

Kailos moved as if to lift him.

“Your Highness, I can get in on my own.”

Leslun refused belatedly, but it was useless.

“Just sit. Do you have any idea how much work is piled up right now? We have no time to argue here.”

After lifting Leslun into the carriage, Kailos climbed in himself. The coachman shut the door, then quickly climbed into the driver’s seat.

Judging from the Crown Prince’s expression, they needed to get to the Imperial Palace before any sparks fell on him.

As soon as the carriage started moving, Wisley Academy quickly returned to its usual quietness as if nothing had happened.

***

When Kailos and Leslun entered the Imperial Palace, Robin approached them.

“Welcome back.”

He had been waiting because the Crown Prince said he would visit the academy alone. Seeing an unexpected person following behind him made Robin frown.

When he saw Leslun trailing after Kailos like a shadow, Robin was taken aback. Shouldn’t classes still be in session?

Something felt off.

“Why does Aide Leslun look like that?”

Without even turning his head, Kailos gave a short reply.

“Step aside. I have an important conversation to have with Leslun.”

At the Crown Prince’s order, Robin withdrew without another word. Even so, his eyes glimmered with curiosity, as if he wanted to know what had happened. When Kailos waved his hand once more, Robin gave up and stepped back completely.

Once they were alone, Kailos lightly tilted back the hat Leslun was wearing. His brown hair tumbled down softly.

The face revealed beneath it was unusually flushed today. The normally clear face was now filled with a dizzying heat.

Kailos held both of Leslun’s shoulders, making him face him. Then he even tilted his own head forward to meet Leslun’s eyes. Leslun looked up awkwardly at the Crown Prince’s movement.

“Promise me. Stay with me from now on.”

Was this what he had sent Robin away to say?

“I truly like you.”

Kailos looked more honest than ever.

“I want to kiss you. I like you.”

Leslun’s cheeks flushed red at those words. His heart felt as if it were pounding all the way up to his throat.

Was this real? The Crown Prince’s words felt like a dream.

“What about you?”

Kailos looked at him with unwavering eyes.

There was no mischief in those eyes, no attempt to test someone’s feelings. Instead, they were sincere and clear.

This was clearly different from before.

Those eyes looked straight at Leslun, as if everything depended on his answer.

A moment of silence passed.

Leslun closed his eyes briefly, then opened them again. His mind was a mess, but his desires were clear.

“I… I would like that.”

His voice trembled at the end, but he forced a small smile. The memory of that night with Kailos made him feel as if he had been reborn. It had been branded into him so vividly that he could not forget it for even a moment.

Kailos smiled lightly.

“Good decision.”

“But I would prefer if no one else knew.”

When Leslun added a condition, Kailos frowned. Leslun quickly added an explanation, almost like an excuse.

“I do not want others to know about us.”

“Why not?”

“If I am to fulfill my duty as your aide, I must avoid unnecessary attention.”

Leslun’s words were reasonable, and Kailos had no choice but to agree.

“Very well. From this moment, I will not speak of anything personal about you.”

It was a solid promise. The Crown Prince never broke a promise once he made it. That was one of his strengths.

Hearing the answer he had wanted, Leslun lowered his head as if there was nothing more he could ask for.

Robin’s eyes widened when he heard what Kailos and Leslun had discovered.

“There are weapons?”

“Yes.”

Kailos’ expression was grim.

Of all places, it was the academy. A place where students were meant to study and form friendships, and there were weapons hidden there? It was unthinkable.

“Where are they?”

“That I do not know.”

Robin’s expression hardened.

“That makes it worse. If we do not know where they are hidden, and something happens, everyone involved will be caught up in it.”

He frowned as if imagining his fears coming true.

“We will have to find out. I will begin visiting the academy regularly.”

Conveniently, he now had a good excuse to do so.

“What happened at the palace?”

When Kailos asked, Robin hesitated before speaking with a serious tone.

“There is a rumor going around that Blue entered Prince Cassian’s chambers.”

At that, Leslun, who had been quietly listening, flinched.
