The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 89.2
Leslun turned his head, but Kailos persistently followed his gaze.
“The more I look at you, the more I think… your face is really strange.”
At that playful tone, Leslun bristled.
“You can just say I’m ugly.”
“You’re not ugly. You have a face that makes me want to keep looking at it even while I’m already looking. Isn’t that much rarer?”
Kailos’s voice carried an oddly serious note. All of Leslun’s attempts to end the conversation were in vain.
In the meantime, there was one thing both Kailos and Leslun had forgotten.
“Shall we move to another place first?”
At some point, Robin had stepped down from the carriage and spoke politely to Lady Miroi.
Only then did Leslun realize there were other people around. He wanted to hide somewhere, anywhere.

They moved to the duke’s garden.
There was no choice but to return here. The servants had prepared a place in the pavilion where Lady Miroi had previously spoken alone with Leslun. The sky was gradually darkening, but lamps were placed all around the pavilion, brightening the surroundings.
This time, the number of people had increased from two to four. Yet the amount of conversation was almost cut in half.
For a while, only the sounds of teacups being set down and teaspoons gently clinking against saucers filled the air.
Kailos neither drank his tea nor ate any cookies. He simply leaned back in his chair and stared at Leslun. The weight of that unwavering gaze was one of the reasons the conversation had died away.
Leslun pretended to drink his tea, but his attention was completely drawn to Kailos’s eyes.
The other side was not in an easy situation either. Robin sat upright as always, but he seemed unusually tense. Even when he lifted his cup, his elbow moved awkwardly.
Lady Miroi was seated beside him. She glanced at Robin, smiled softly, and lifted her teacup.
“If I had known this would happen, I should have prepared a meal instead.”
She had prepared tea to talk about what had happened, but there was no sign of any conversation starting.
Kailos slowly ran his fingertip along the rim of his teacup. A faint smile appeared on his lips.
“If you took my aide with you, shouldn’t you at least return him safely? In that sense, we’ll just have to endure this heavy atmosphere.”
A heavy silence fell.
Leslun wanted to say it wasn’t Lady Miroi’s fault. This was all because of Count Camilo.
Besides, he still felt uneasy remembering the time he had once kidnapped her. He was in no position to accuse her of anything.
But if Leslun spoke up now and said it wasn’t her fault, it would only damage the Crown Prince’s dignity.
Lady Miroi lowered her head.
“It was my carelessness, so I’ll take responsibility.”
She accepted it without resistance.
“Good. I’ll remember those words well.”
“I’m prepared to hear everything you have to say, so please, go ahead.”
Leslun glanced between the two as they spoke. Now that he thought about it, he had left the duke’s residence after saying he would seek the Crown Prince’s permission.
That meant Lady Miroi could now ask for permission directly here.
For some reason, Leslun’s expression grew slightly subdued.
“Now then, let’s talk about how you’ll take responsibility.”
Kailos looked at Leslun, whose gaze was lowered.
“Shall I capture Count Camilo for you?”
His tone was light, as if offering to catch an insect crawling nearby. But the meaning behind the words was far from light.
Even if Count Camilo’s steward had been captured, it would be difficult to prove the Count’s guilt.
“Well, that man wouldn’t speak so easily anyway.”
Kailos gave a sharp, crooked smile.
“There must be a better way.”
He turned his eyes to Miroi.
“You said you’d take responsibility, so you should help think of a way.”
He subtly pulled Lady Miroi into the matter as well.
Leslun watched her expression. Lady Miroi seemed quietly pleased, almost as if she had been rewarded rather than punished.
Robin let out a weary sigh.
“I know everyone here has plenty of work to do.”
At the Crown Prince’s words, Leslun thought about all the tasks waiting for him.
He had to review his lectures, prepare for debates, and on top of that, there were the Crown Prince’s official duties to consider.
This time, a quiet sigh escaped his lips.
Leslun and Robin briefly exchanged glances.
“So let’s deal with this matter quickly,” Kailos said cheerfully, even though it was obvious that everyone already knew what that meant.
