The Villain’s Aide Has Run Away - Chapter 91.1
“It was you who tried to take me by force, Count.”
“It was mine to begin with. You were my aide, weren’t you? A traitor who turned to the Crown Prince for profit dares to talk back to me?”
“I think that’s my part to explain.”
Kailos stepped in beside Leslun. He looked at Count Camilo, who was gritting his teeth, then turned to Leslun, who stood calmly. His face showed no emotion, but his clenched fist trembled faintly.
“What you threw away, I picked up.”
Kailos took Leslun’s hand and made him open his palm. When he brushed his thumb across the nail marks, Count Camilo’s face twisted.
Could that really be called the attitude of someone toward a mere aide?
Moreover, Kailos did not even seem to be trying to hide it. His gesture looked almost like a deliberate display of dominance, showing who held the advantage now.
“That’s why I plan to take good care of him.”
Kailos made no effort to conceal his fondness for Leslun in front of the Count. After all the mistreatment the Count had put Leslun through, he now intended to protect him himself.
At that moment, soldiers summoned by Kailos appeared from the opposite side of the forest path. The Count’s escape route was completely blocked.
Kailos stepped forward.
“Count Camilo, by order of the Crown Prince’s tribunal, you are under arrest. It would be wise to stop your pointless resistance.”
Count Camilo’s lips trembled slightly as if to protest, but faced with the force that seemed to press on all sides, he finally closed his eyes.
Leslun let out a long breath and slowly broke the twig in his hand. The faint crack echoed through the forest.
“Your Highness.”
He turned and looked at Kailos. The torchlight flickered over both their faces.
“From this moment on, as your aide, I will record and testify to all of the Count’s illegal acts.”
Kailos nodded slowly. Even in the darkness, his blue eyes gleamed sharply.

The moment Leslun returned to the palace, Kailos pulled him along without a word. Those who saw them quickly averted their eyes or pretended not to notice.
Leslun could not shake off the Crown Prince’s grip, so he simply lowered his head and followed quietly.
“Sit here.”
Kailos guided him to a soft sofa. The seat was so comfortable that it felt like it would swallow him whole, which only made him more uneasy.
Leslun tried to stand up right away, but the Crown Prince pulled a chair close and sat down in front of him, blocking his way.
Kailos leaned forward slightly, resting his chin on his hand as he looked at Leslun. His posture seemed relaxed, yet there was a subtle weight to it.
His gaze sank low and deep. Leslun felt as if the Crown Prince’s presence was drawing him in completely.
Kailos’s stare grew darker, the air itself seemed to waver. A slow heat welled up from within and wrapped around Leslun along with that gaze.
“Your Highness.”
“Speak.”
When Kailos tilted his head with interest, Leslun found himself almost breathless.
He did not dislike facing the Crown Prince. Kailos’s deep blue eyes and well-defined features were pleasant to look at, and the quiet affection within his gaze seemed to warm the air between them. Leslun found that comforting in a way.
However, the intensity of that gaze was so strong that he almost forgot how to breathe.
“Do you have something to say to me?”
“Are you trying to escape like that?”
Kailos leaned closer. Now, only the slightest movement would make their lips touch.
“I’m looking because I want to look.”
“I have something to tell you.”
“Really? Since when?”
“I just thought of it.”
Leslun quickly spoke, trying to put some distance between them, but Kailos did not move back. Instead, he braced a hand beside Leslun and drew even closer.
“I could tell. Go on, let’s hear it.”
“Before that, this distance…”
“Don’t be so tense. Just accept it as it is.”
“It’s hard to, because you’re… dazzling.”
“You’ll get used to it if you keep looking.”
Leslun pressed his lips together and bit his lower lip lightly.
This kind of situation wasn’t unfamiliar. It wasn’t the first time either. But that didn’t mean it ever became easier.
“If you could just give me some time to adjust…”
“Alright. I’ll give you plenty.”
Even as he said that, Kailos showed no sign of moving away.
“Don’t tell me you expect me to get used to this distance.”
“Exactly.”
“Your Highness, why are you…”
“I think you could use a little sunlight. Step out of the shadows for once and feel the light.”
Leslun’s lips parted slightly, but no words came out. Kailos’s tone sounded both like comfort and like a gentle threat.
“You’ve been through a lot. You won’t have to go back there anymore.”
Kailos frowned slightly in thought before continuing.
