“Even if you think you can act recklessly because you have the Crown Prince’s trust…”

“I didn’t come here to save you, Count.”

Count Camilo’s rage reached its peak.

“I know who gives you the courage to act like this. But you haven’t forgotten, have you? You could sacrifice everyone else just to save your own life.”

Leslun’s lips pressed shut. Though his expression did not change, a faint tremor passed through his eyes.

The Count did not miss it. His gaze quickly turned arrogant.

“You’d better use that tongue of yours to persuade the Crown Prince while you still can.”

“That’s a good idea,” Leslun said, as if he had just realized something.

“I’ll persuade His Highness the Crown Prince and bring all of my people with me. Then, there’ll be no need for you to die, Count.”

He rose slowly from his chair. The scraping sound of the legs against the floor echoed coldly.

“W–wait, Leslun!”

Count Camilo’s eyes darted about as he tried to grab Leslun, but all that came out was the loud clanging of his chains. He couldn’t move an inch.

“It wasn’t me,” the Count said hastily.

“I–I wasn’t the one who ordered Lady Miroi to be brought here.”

Leslun’s brow furrowed slightly. He looked at the Count, wondering why he was saying that, and the man began to ramble.

“It was the Crown Prince’s order!”

He let out a crazed, hiccuping laugh.

“Now you know too, don’t you? But do you think he’ll let you go after this? You’ve learned his secret now, haven’t you? You must never underestimate that man.”

“If that’s the case…”

“I’ll handle it myself.”

That single line drew a clear boundary.

Realizing that no words could turn Leslun back now, Count Camilo could only stare blankly at his retreating figure.

Leslun walked quietly toward the iron door the guard had already opened.

Just before crossing the threshold, he stopped for a moment and turned back to face the Count.

“When you ordered me to kidnap Lady Miroi,” he said quietly, “I was the one who did it.”

“…What?”

“I was the one who sent her away.”

A storm of emotion flickered across the Count’s eyes.

All the oddities he had noticed began to make sense—the strange coincidences, Leslun’s sudden disappearance, every bit of misfortune that had followed. His face slowly hardened.

“You dared to do that? You wretched—”

“Kidnapping is a grave crime.”

Leslun looked directly at him with a gaze devoid of emotion. Then he lowered his head slightly, offering a short, formal bow before turning away.

“Do you even know who stands behind me?”

Leslun paused, recognizing this as the Count’s final act of desperation, yet he could not entirely ignore it.

“The Empress… no, there are those even more terrifying than her. You have no idea how cruel they are. Once you find out—no, I’ll make sure you do. So help me.”

At that last desperate threat, Leslun’s expression made it clear he had nothing more to say. He stepped out.

“Leslun!”

The Count’s roar echoed through the prison, but Leslun did not slow his pace.

Those words lingered in his mind.

More terrifying than the Empress.

He could not ignore them. He kept repeating them in his head.

Kailos was in turmoil.

He was certain now—he had fallen for Leslun.

At first, it was mere curiosity. Then came possessiveness.

And now, all those emotions were tangled together into a single knot he could no longer unravel.

Every moment he had tried to keep Leslun near—through harsh lessons, cold dismissals—came back to him. Looking back, it all seemed like childish cruelty.

He regretted the past when that was the only way he knew how to reach him. Now, he wanted nothing more than to hold him completely.

Yet, part of his heart remained uneasy.

“One thing’s certain. I do have feelings for Leslun,”

Kailos’s fingers absently scratched the surface of his desk.

“But what is this…”

There was something he couldn’t explain—an emotion he couldn’t quite grasp, like the final knot buried deep within a tangled thread.

Not knowing what it was only made him more restless.

“Whatever it is, Leslun is coming,”

Kailos snapped out of his thoughts and looked up.

Even as Robin organized the documents and mentioned there was something to report, Kailos didn’t hear him.

He abruptly rose from his seat and strode toward the door.

Then, he flung it open with force.
