The Villain’s Recipe - Chapter 13.1
Ma Jin-cheol chimed in to match the mood.
“Ah, I remember as well. That fellow who called himself Zeus.”
He was the kind of guy who seemed to have had all of Baek Seok-gyol’s missing social skills crammed into himself instead. Sometimes his slick, prying attitude was annoying, but right now it was quite useful.
“Right, Zeus!”
Helena forced a smile and said to Baek Seok-gyol.
“What are we going to do about the kids I brought, though? Most of them seem to be inside that thing.”
“The staff I brought are in there, too.”
Provided Baek Seok-gyol hadn’t gone crazier than before, saying this much should be fine.
“So?”
Baek Seok-gyol tilted his head and looked at the two of them. Even in a situation like this, his jagged bangs stood out clearly in her vision. What on earth was going on with that? Unable to bring herself to ask, Helena finally lowered the hand she had been pointing at the block.
Her breath caught in her throat. Baek Seok-gyol slowly walked over and approached Helena. Continuous noises echoed from the sinking submarine. Yet, his footsteps were strangely distinct.
“Do you need a price?”
This guy knew Helena feared him. That must be why he was talking so nonchalantly. Could she dare answer that she wanted a price here? At least Helena couldn’t. And that was true for Cain, as well.
If the word fear took on a human form, it would probably look like this. Helena stood still, holding even her breath, until Baek Seok-gyol disappeared together with Ma Jin-cheol.
And only after Baek Seok-gyol had completely vanished from sight did she belatedly vent her rage.
“Dammit! Ah-dammit!”
She kicked the floor with her heels and poured out her power. Because of that, even half of the subordinates who had managed to survive ended up melting in Helena’s poison, but she didn’t care.
“Just when is that bastard ever going to die!”
“He’ll die eventually. More than that, I’ll send you the catalog again, so buy plenty. You’re lifesavers, after all, so just match the amount accordingly.”
At the irritating remark, Helena ground her teeth. However, just as she couldn’t do anything to Baek Seok-gyol, she couldn’t beat Cain right now either. Therefore, she had no choice but to swallow her anger.
❖ ❖ ❖
Min-ha stood in front of a large pot, staring blankly inside. Watching the large-batch curry bubbling away, he mechanically moved his arms. Then, recalling what had happened shortly before, he let out a groan and slumped down right there.
“Uwaaaah!”
I shouldn’t have said I would do it. I shouldn’t have boasted about being the Barber of Gamheung-ri. I shouldn’t have picked up the scissors. He tried regretting it belatedly, but it was already too late.
“At least it’s a relief that you only touched his bangs.”
Assuming you could even call that a relief, that is. Baek Seok-gyol’s bangs had been utterly ruined by Min-ha’s catastrophic handiwork.
“Ah, um.”
Sui, who had been standing nearby holding a ruler to gauge the length, couldn’t find the words to continue after seeing that.
“It’s, it’s fine!”
Even her desperate effort to comfort him failed to shine. It looked like they would have to grow the bangs back out to fix this.
“I’ll develop a hair growth tonic!”
Sui shouted frantically. She had done so because she was worried that Baek Seok-gyol, enraged by his ruined bangs, might harm the guide he had managed to secure with such difficulty. In conclusion, however, it was an unnecessary action.
Even after seeing his reflection in the mirror handed to him by a tearful Min-ha, Baek Seok-gyol didn’t get angry. Instead, he smiled faintly and stroked his bangs as if satisfied. For a moment, Sui thought he had finally lost his mind.
“How is it?”
At Baek Seok-gyol’s question, Min-ha couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth.
“Pretty?”
By that point, Sui was backing away on her own. Unable to run away alongside Sui, Min-ha confessed the truth to Baek Seok-gyol.
“I think I cut it way too badly. Right now—even right now, how about we go to a hair salon? Maybe it can still be fixed!”
“I hate it.”
“No, no it’s not. This definitely needs a trip to the salon!”
It seemed doubtful that even a hair salon could fix bangs that had been butchered like this. But right now, Min-ha’s only hope was a hair salon with professionals.
“I don’t want to.”
In that situation, Baek Seok-gyo displayed his germophobia.
“I hate other people touching me.”
At the firm words, Min-ha looked troubled.
“But you let me touch you.”
“Because you’re the Barber of Gamheung-ri?”
