After finishing lunch and leaving the cafeteria, I watched Kim Jihwan and Cha Gwonhyeok walk side by side from one step behind them.

The two of them created a picture simply by walking beside each other. They gave off similar atmospheres, making it obvious to anyone that they were characters from the same genre. I couldn’t hear what they were talking about, but their back-and-forth continued without pause. Kim Jihwan rarely maintained a conversation with an ordinary person for more than five minutes, so Cha Gwonhyeok was clearly a perfect match for him, even in terms of personality.

How could they fit together so well? This is genuinely heartwarming.

“Saint B!”

As we walked toward the classroom, I heard the Swimming Club sunbaes calling me from behind.

“Ah! Hyung, hello!”

“What do you mean, hello? We told you to stop by the swimming pool during lunch so we could fit you for the team swimsuits. Did you forget?”

Right. They had said there was something we needed to prepare for the upcoming swimming competition, but I had completely forgotten.

“I’d probably fit into a medium or large.”

“Your sunbae told you to strip, and you’re talking back-?”

The sunbae pretended to kick my leg, but his foot didn’t actually touch me. I burst into laughter at the affectionate kick and exaggeratedly repeated, “I’m sorry! Sunbaeniiim!”

“Right, you said this school had a swimming pool.”

Cha Gwonhyeok, who had approached with Kim Jihwan at some point, joined the conversation.

“Uh-huh. Gwonhyeok, did you choose swimming class?”

“No, I haven’t finished choosing all my subjects yet.”

Swimming was an elective class, so if he didn’t choose it, he could graduate after three years at the school without seeing the water even once.

“Want me to show you around?”

I offered first, as though generously doing him a favor. The unfamiliar school must still feel strange and fascinating to him, so I should show him around.

“Wow… Baek Hanrim’s friends have such royal countenances….”

“Are you guys preparing to debut as an idol group?”

The Swimming Club sunbaes stared blankly as they praised Kim Jihwan’s and Cha Gwonhyeok’s appearances. Hearing my friends receive compliments put me in a good mood too. Feeling a little smug, I said goodbye to the sunbaes and headed toward the swimming pool with the others.

“Hanrim, did you choose swimming class?”

On the way to the swimming pool, Cha Gwonhyeok asked me a question. I was in the Swimming Club, but I hadn’t chosen swimming class. The reason was obvious.

“No, Jihwan doesn’t like showing his body.”

I was Kim Jihwan’s clingy tag-along. If Kim Jihwan didn’t do it, neither would I.

“Hey, take it if you want to. It’s still the beginning of the semester, so you can change it.”

At my answer, Kim Jihwan irritably told me to take the class even now. But I had no intention of changing my mind.

“Nah, I’m not taking it without you.”

“What… Haa….”

Kim Jihwan sighed as though he found me ridiculous, but the corners of his mouth twitched slightly, so he didn’t seem displeased. Seriously, he secretly enjoyed having me follow him around.

But when had Kim Jihwan started disliking showing his body…?

At some point, Kim Jihwan had become reluctant to wash with me and started avoiding swimming pools. Well, pretty bottoms like Kim Jihwan sometimes had settings where even men who weren’t particularly gay would feel stirred after seeing them. It wasn’t as though I couldn’t understand why he would be cautious….

Wouldn’t that be incredibly inconvenient? I looked at Kim Jihwan with needless pity.

“What are you staring at?”

At Kim Jihwan’s sharp reply, I lowered my eyes as usual.

“Hey! Hanrim-ah! Why are you only getting here now-!”

As we were doing that, the instructor called for me from the swimming pool office. I called out to him cheerfully and ran over.

“Teach, should I take my clothes off first?”

“Ah, what do you mean, take them off first? You’re a guy-. Just strip here and put it on quickly-.”

I gave a brief “Yessir,” then immediately stripped off the spring-and-autumn uniform I was wearing without hesitation. The parents had all chipped in money for these custom swimsuits, and they were ordering them from a fairly expensive brand, so detailed measurements were required.

“You’re the first team to get shirts and swimsuits made just because you’re entering a competition. Wear them into your coffins.”

“Of course. I already told my parents they wouldn’t need to prepare a burial shroud for me.”

“Eee-yyy-, that’s going too far! Hahaha!”

The instructor and I joked around, exchanging silly remarks about getting every last bit of use out of them until they burst. The measurements were quickly finished, and I put my pants back on. Just as I was about to stick my head into my short-sleeved T-shirt, I noticed Kim Jihwan and Cha Gwonhyeok staring blankly at me.

“Guys, do you know what my nickname is?”

It was embarrassing to have them silently staring at me, so I continued with a playful smile.

“Sexy Baek.”

I rolled my shoulders, smoothly shifting my shoulder blades in a brief performance, then put my clothes back on. As I dressed, I grinned to myself, wondering whether my joke had worked.

(T/N: Back and Baek sound the same with a Korean pronunciation)
