Before entering the game presented before me, I paused to organize the situation.

So, either Kim Jihwan or Cha Gwonhyeok had received a prompt word other than ‘friend.’ Could they see this status window in front of them right now too? Like during the mafia game? Then how was I supposed to find…

“Hrrak-choo!”

I had spent too long immersed in thought on the chilly balcony, so I began coughing and shivering. I couldn’t be bothered to think. Should I just skip this game? As long as no one died or got hurt, even if I received a penalty, it would be better to safely get them out of the game without suspecting either of them.

Zzzzt-.

Would you like to give up the game?

Yes (3) / No

The moment I thought about giving up the game, static crackled and a warning window appeared.

The number 3 beside ‘Yes’ bothered me.

“Hm? There’s something written in small letters too… What is it?”

[Notice]

Are you certain you wish to give up? (Remaining chances: 3)

※ Caution: Once all three opportunities have been used, the system will classify you as a ‘Permanent Participant.’ Afterward, you will no longer be able to give up this game by any means.

“Aagh… It obviously means something terrible will happen if I press it…?”

There was no reason to invite trouble. I pushed the system message for abandoning the game aside with my hand and shoved it into one corner of my vision. I should never use that even if the sky would split in two.

“Sniff, guys. Let’s go look around my room now… Aaaagh?!”

I opened the balcony door and stepped into the living room while calling the kids, then screamed in shock at the scene before me. Because.

“Baek Hanrim, what the hell are these bastards?”

“Fuck, this feels disgusting.”

“Hanrim-ah.”

“Haha.”

There was now one extra Kim Jihwan and one extra Cha Gwonhyeok.

Truthful Liar Game 00:10:22

“It’ll be confusing, so I’ll call you Kim Jihwan 1, you Kim Jihwan 2, you Cha Gwonhyeok 1, and you Cha Gwonhyeok 2.”

The two of them had split apart and become independent like reproducing planaria, so I first sorted out what to call them.

“You know you’re participating in a liar game right now, don’t you?”

I needed to know how much the kids understood, so I asked whether they knew the rules and their prompt words.

“This is fucking annoying. Do we have to do it?”

“What a pain.”

Kim Jihwan 1 and 2 were uncooperative about participating in the game itself.

“Hmm, this isn’t bad.”

“Wouldn’t I be able to live more efficiently with two bodies?”

Cha Gwonhyeok 1 and 2 seemed more curious and interested in having another version of themselves than in the game.

I didn’t know exactly what the two—no, four—of them were thinking, but judging by what I could see, none of them seemed particularly interested in the game. Was the real Liar among them pretending not to care so they could stall until they won?

“But you basically have doppelgängers now. You all seem awfully calm?”

“Our phones don’t work, and we can’t leave the house. What would panicking accomplish?”

“It’s not like I can kill that bastard.”

The Kim Jihwans didn’t bother searching for an answer to a situation with no obvious solution, and…

“Making one more place in the family registry would be easy enough.”

“Resources should be utilized, yes.”

The Cha Gwonhyeoks had already devised ways to live after the situation ended.

As always, the system’s sinister lock-them-up-first-and-play-the-game-later mechanism had activated, making it impossible to use our phones or leave the house.

“Won’t it end if we find the Liar quickly? Who’s the Liar?”

All four responded in ways that implied it wasn’t them, asking who it was and saying they truly had no idea.

“It doesn’t look like the Liar will let themselves get caught easily. So which of you is the original?”

“Me.”

“Me.”

“I am.”

“It’s me.”

A grim premonition passed through me that this game would be difficult when all of them claimed to be the original.

In the doppelgänger game, the original novel’s ‘Baek Hanrim’ had been copied, so I had recognized him as a completely different person from myself while playing. But these guys were copies of the original bodies that existed here, so the duplicates apparently believed they were the originals too.

“There’s no helping it. Let’s find the Liar quickly and end this.”
