Who invited that man to my tea time?

It wasn’t me.

This old man might have been addressed as Your Highness for so long that it no longer meant anything to him, but I’m three to nine years younger, so I’m different.

He constantly barged into places where he hadn’t been invited without reading the room, and Clary wanted to smack him regardless of whether he was her uncle or the Crown Prince.

Even when she openly told him to leave, his skin was so thick that he planted himself there and ultimately ruined the intimate time between godfather and goddaughter.

She considered secretly kicking him while Haster wasn’t looking, but Clary decided to maintain her dignity and quietly sipped her tea.

‘What would I gain by arguing with that immature bastard of an uncle?’

It definitely wasn’t because she was tightly controlling herself while watching the mood of her godfather seated beside her.

Whether his niece and cousin growled and snarled at each other beside him or not, Haster quietly raised his teacup to his lips.

That didn’t mean he was indifferent. Whenever they went too far, he gave them a stern look, and whenever Clary’s plate became empty, he personally placed more pastries upon it.

‘This is what an adult should be like.’

Clary thought to herself as she blocked Arden’s fork with a butter knife when he tried to steal someone else’s pastries.

Because of the settings imposed by a trashy story with a predetermined ending, he had been a horrible bastard toward the female lead, but fundamentally, he treated his own people well, with the exception of her.

His attitude was different from that of a certain Crown Prince.

That one treated people well too, but he was sly.

That was why he had turned a blind eye a few times when the secondary female lead tried her schemes.

‘Ah, come to think of it, I need to get rid of the secondary female lead quickly.’

Clary had expected her to attend the imperial banquet, but she hadn’t appeared.

The secondary female lead attended nearly every imperial event without fail.

The fact that she had failed to appear made it extremely suspicious.

‘Could this man have tried some sort of scheme?’

Clary was staring at Arden with eyes full of suspicion while stuffing a scone into her mouth when a man approached the tea table.

Judging by his hurried steps, something seemed to have happened.

After bowing to the group enjoying their refreshments, he reported to Arden.

“The fourth Count of Nestin has died. We have received notice that the funeral will be held tomorrow.”

“Who?”

Arden asked as though the person’s identity didn’t immediately come to mind.

“Lady Mariya Anberg, daughter of the Marquis of Anberg.”

At the aide’s words, Clary stared blankly.

Chunks of scone she hadn’t managed to chew spilled from her mouth.

There was a secondary female lead.

Now there isn’t.

「The Bird in the Cage Had Its Wings Broken」.

Commonly known as 「Bird Abuse」, it had several secondary female leads.

The most prominent of them and the one who served as the final boss was Mariya Anberg, daughter of the Marquis of Anberg.

Compared to her, Stelly Troanne was no more than the flame of a match before a wildfire that devoured all vegetation.

Half of the brutal disasters Clary suffered were Mariya Anberg’s doing.

She was greatly ambitious and exceedingly greedy.

Despite being the second daughter, she was intelligent enough to obtain from her father, the Marquis, the title of Count, which was the second-best title he possessed.

Her nature was also cruel, so she never hesitated to do anything necessary to obtain what she wanted, and she felt no guilt whatsoever for the crimes she committed.

Mariya’s goal was to become Empress.

However, once she realized that Arden intended to gradually push away the increasingly powerful House Anberg to keep it in check, she changed her goal to becoming Grand Duchess.

She intended to incite Haster into rebellion, make him Emperor, and claim the position of Empress.

Naturally, Clary was an obstacle to her.

Instead of acting personally, Mariya manipulated situations so that other people would attack Clary.

To avoid suspicion, she even set fire to the Marquis’s townhouse in the capital, killing her own siblings along with the people who served as her hands and feet.

In the end, all of her evil deeds were revealed, and she lost her life beneath the guillotine.

However, although Mariya was the one who died, Mariya was also the one who won in the end.
