“Still…… It would be stranger if it didn’t bother you.”

“Right?”

The pen that had been noisily striking the desk rolled across it as though it had been thrown away.

Arden leaned back fully in his chair with an audible thump.

“Three times.”

“What happened three times?”

“I ran into that punk three times in a single day.”

He had encountered the Marquis twice more outside the council?

Judging by the Crown Prince’s displeased expression, it clearly hadn’t been an enjoyable or productive time.

It wasn’t particularly rare for a noble to offend the Emperor with their words.

If they went too far, they could be punished with imprisonment or worse, but apparently the Marquis hadn’t crossed the line that severely.

“Unless one of you was deliberately trying to meet the other, it would be difficult to encounter someone that many times.”

“Every time I went to see Haster, that person was clinging to his side.”

The question of why Arden had visited His Highness the Grand Duke three times in a single day was buried beneath a more important suspicion.

The Marquis was approaching the Grand Duke?

No matter how one looked at it, that wasn’t good news.

Although the Emperor had drawn the Grand Duke into the central government, it had been done to balance the factions.

If the Marquis joined forces with the Grand Duke, they would form a faction of their own, which would be dangerous in a different way.

Mishien groaned.

“They are not unaware of their position. Considering that they are meeting the Grand Duke openly in the imperial palace of all places, I don’t know whether we should call them bold or assume they have another scheme…….”

“Why would they meet secretly? That would be even stranger.”

“And it isn’t strange for them to stay together in the imperial palace without caring who sees them?”

“Why should they care who sees them? What kind of relationship do the two of them have?”

What is wrong with this idiot?

Mishien was dumbfounded by the Crown Prince, who found their constant proximity irritating but held not even the slightest suspicion regarding their relationship.

When had this man’s intelligence deteriorated without Mishien noticing?

The Grand Duke had spent the entire day with a Marquis he had only met that morning. What relationship could possibly be more suspicious?

Would he only understand if Mishien submitted an official document titled, ‘These two men are holding suspicious secret meetings’?

“Two great nobles kept under surveillance by the imperial family are openly conspiring inside the imperial palace. How is that not strange?”

He must have sold his awareness to increase the national treasury.

“What are you talking about? We’re discussing Clary.”

“……Pardon?”

What are you talking about? Weren’t we discussing the Marquis of Anberg?

Why are we suddenly speaking ill of the Duke of Lurie?

“The Marquis returned to his townhouse immediately after the council ended. Why would that sly old serpent try to meet Haster?”

The more Arden thought about it, the more irritating it became.

He couldn’t understand how he managed to encounter her every single time, not merely once a day.

These days, it wasn’t enough for her to spend her leisure time with Haster. She also clung to her godfather under the excuse of learning swordsmanship.

It had been the same only two hours earlier.

Haster was in the southern annex.

He had borrowed the training ground there to teach Clary swordsmanship.

Arden became curious about how harshly Haster would train his adorable niece.

His personality was practically that of a soldier, so surely he wouldn’t go easy on her merely because she was his goddaughter!

However, what Arden witnessed was his niece excitedly chanting, ‘Aura Blade!’ while Haster silently watched her.

At the time, Haster was regretting his decision.

The trouble had begun when he casually revealed to Clary that he was a Sword Master.

His goddaughter’s eyes sparkled, and she asked whether that meant he could wield aura as well.

“To become a swordsman, one generally begins by learning to wield aura.”

In other words, yes.

Upon hearing that, Clary clung to him and pleaded, ‘Uncle Haster, just once, only once. Show me an Aura Blade. It’s your goddaughter’s wish!’ Then she began chanting Aura Blade like an overexcited parrot.

She was so unyielding that even when he sternly refused, she didn’t so much as blink.

While clicking his tongue and wondering whether stubbornness ran in the family, Haster was also impressed by her determination.

Clary was being stubborn for reasons of her own.

You never told me the male lead was a Sword Master!

Why had the author kept something this entertaining entirely to themselves?

Thinking about it, since it was a highly explicit novel, Haster had spent every day on top of the female lead, thrust-thrust, pound-pound, ahh-ahh with his home-wrecking monster cock. He had never had time to show off an Aura Blade or anything else.

Still, both the author and the readers had been sane enough not to imagine a scene where he spewed aura from his dick instead of cum.
