When the Female Lead Went Off-Script, the Main Male Lead Became the Tyrant's Empress - Chapter 19.1
Morning broke.
A perfectly clear blue sky without a single raindrop or cloud heralded the beginning of a refreshing day.
Arden had risen early and dressed neatly before accepting the teacup offered by his attendant.
As he stood by the window savoring freshly brewed coffee, he saw his niece running toward him from the West Wing across the central courtyard.
She was running so violently that the birds peacefully pecking at their feed fled with frantic flaps of their wings at her relentless approach.
Everywhere she passed, the poor grass was either deeply gouged or torn up in clumps of soil.
Clary charged forward as though she intended to seize Arden by the hair, but she didn’t even get a glimpse of it.
Before she could set foot inside the East Wing, the maids acting under Arden’s orders seized her at once.
Clary was flustered by the unexpected restraint.
When she spotted Arden leisurely sipping coffee beside a window on the second floor, she struggled and screamed at the top of her lungs.
“Your Highness, please reconsider! This schedule is practically murderous! Ah, let go of me. Let go!”
Arden gave Clary a benevolent smile as she was dragged back toward the West Wing while shouting.
Our little nuisance. Study hard.
Through the window, he heard the incomprehensible cry, ‘A young professional is trapped inside the body of a high school senior. Please help me!’ but that was none of Arden’s concern.
“Don’t let her leave the West Wing until she finishes the entire assigned workload.”
Mishien, who had watched everything from beginning to end, secretly glared at him.
You’re telling them not to let her out until at least the weekend.
You monster.

Arden’s steps were exceedingly light as he headed toward the drawing room Haster frequently used.
Now that he had removed the obstacle getting in his way, he could finally share some close cousinly affection with that punk in earnest without being interrupted.
And while he was at it, perhaps he could bring up a few interesting matters concerning industry and politics.
However, life rarely proceeded as easily as one wished.
“What in the world is this……?”
Arden doubted his own eyes.
The area before the drawing room, which should have been completely empty, was filled with a line of women.
“Did I come to the wrong room? I’m certain I heard Haster was here.”
There wasn’t even an event taking place, so he couldn’t believe that this many young noblewomen had come to see Haster instead of him.
To be honest, that bastard was quietly popular, but not to this extent.
……Or was he?
As Arden stood there unable to conceal his astonishment at the sight he had never witnessed before, a short scream came from the drawing room door, followed by a minor commotion.
A young noblewoman who had entered the drawing room earlier emerged with a face as pale as wax, then suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed.
Some people tried to wake the unconscious woman, while others anxiously bit their lips or trembled on their legs.
Elsewhere, subtle battles of nerves were taking place, and the entire scene was nothing short of spectacular.
“Uh…… Is there anyone who can explain to me what all this commotion is about?”

It was common sense that a noble possessing wealth, honor, and power required someone to serve them closely.
Even a baronial family in some remote corner of the countryside kept one or two attendants and maids, so naturally, the imperial family would do the same.
For the sake of his one and only beloved granddaughter, the Emperor needed to select a lady-in-waiting who would assist her.
Someone close to her age who could become a true friend to the granddaughter who had lived in loneliness, isolated from the outside world for so long without ever having a friend, and who could offer her advice and encouragement.
When an official announcement was posted stating that the imperial family was searching for a lady-in-waiting for the Duke of Lurie, numerous noble families exclaimed, ‘This is our chance!’ and sent their daughters.
One advantage of becoming a lady-in-waiting was that serving a member of the imperial family gave one access to the central figures of imperial power.
Furthermore, if the Duke of Lurie returned to her territory, the lady-in-waiting could ask to be employed as an aide.
With enough luck, she might even catch the eye of the Grand Duke or the Crown Prince and rise in status.
There was no possibility that ambitious young women would turn down such a golden opportunity.
However, the young noblewomen who had confidently entered the drawing room with eyes shining with ambition all emerged with their legs trembling like newborn giraffes.
I apologize. I underestimated this.
The imperial palace truly is a frightening place.
More precisely, the interviewer was frightening.
