When the Female Lead Went Off-Script, the Main Male Lead Became the Tyrant's Empress - Chapter 28.2
Arden clicked his tongue.
It was fortunate that he had sent the coachman away in advance.
Otherwise, the man might have fainted from fear.
“I don’t know either. He’s somewhere around here, but even if you find him now, it won’t do any good.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Do you know where this is? It’s the imperial hunting grounds. The hunting grounds are in the forest, and you know the forest is outside the capital, right?”
With each word Arden spoke, Haster’s jaw tightened.
“So we’re veeeery far away from the palace.”
It’ll be dark by the time we return.
Arden drew out his words as he answered.
Haster reached out.
Arden tried to evade him nimbly, but Haster’s hand was faster this time.
“Arden Erel Herce Fairtrach!”
“Don’t shout. Your blood pressure will rise.”
My imperial father is already suffering because of high blood pressure and has to take medication for it.
Even with Haster gripping him by the collar, Arden remained relaxed.
Haster ground his molars.
What in the world was wrong with this damned brat?
“Aren’t you curious why I brought you here?”
“…….”
“You must be curious.”
“Say one more word. I’ll smash that face of yours.”
“This place…”
Thud!
Arden’s head snapped to the side beneath the swinging fist.
A dull pain spread through his jaw.
Arden spat out bloody saliva.
“Ah…… How could you hit me that hard?”
The words were accusatory, but his tone only sounded mildly annoyed.
Haster turned his back without even looking at him.
“Be grateful that I didn’t crack your skull instead.”
“……I think you did. It hurts terribly.”
“Then I struck you well.”
Had anyone witnessed the scene, they would have caused an uproar over Haster’s disrespectful treatment of the Crown Prince.
Unfortunately, the two of them were the only ones there, and neither was the sort to concern himself with formalities or proper conduct toward the other.
Arden rubbed his jaw and lowered his lashes.
“I do feel sorry about Clary. I really do.”
“Those are only words.”
Haster continued sarcastically.
“When did ‘really’ come to mean that you feel no remorse? If you’re sincere, you must be so sorry that you’re ready to die on the spot. If you genuinely cared about Clary, you wouldn’t have done this in the first place. At the very least, you would have brought her with us.”
“I do feel a little sorry. It’s just that my desire was stronger. How could I leave a sleeping beauty alone?”
“Continue if you want to be hit again.”
“I’ve finished speaking.”
Haster suddenly felt pathetic.
The more he spoke, the more Arden dragged him into his pace.
He pressed his fingers to his brow.
If this truly was the hunting ground, then even if he personally drove the carriage back, he probably wouldn’t be able to keep his promise to Clary.
Why had that bastard done such a thing?
Haster didn’t voice the question.
It was far too foolish.
Arden didn’t need a reason.
Before him, questions, causes, consequences, and excuses all fell silent as though dead.
Nothing restrained him, and he did whatever he pleased.
“What are you plotting by bringing me here?”
“Plotting? There’s nothing like that. I merely wanted to show you this place.”
Haster was dumbfounded.
Had he caused all this trouble just to show him this place?
“Then what about Clary? If we were coming here, couldn’t you have brought her as well?”
“Clary again.”
Arden spoke with a displeased groan mixed into his voice.
“Can’t we have a conversation without talking about Clary?”
“Think about why I’m bringing her up before you speak—”
“Clary is too noisy.”
Arden waved his hand as though he was tired of hearing it and abruptly cut Haster off.
“I may enjoy commotion, but I know how to behave according to the time and place. That child needs to learn how to conduct herself with more decorum. This place is special.”
A sigh escaped Haster.
Did this idiot even realize what he was saying?
“You appear to be mistaken about something. You have never behaved with decorum. To tell the truth, you and Clary are on exactly the same level.”
“You included Clary when you said I’ve never been quiet, didn’t you? Then you admit that she’s noisy?”
“……Can’t you do something about that habit of hearing only what you want to hear?”
“I’m afraid not. It’s one of my tens of thousands of charms.”
Arden winked and draped one arm over Haster’s shoulder.
Haster twitched an eyebrow to tell him to remove it, but Arden pretended not to notice and even beckoned with his fingers.
“Doesn’t this place look familiar?”
