A World Where You All Are The Villains - Chapter 11.1
“Achoo! Achoo, huu…!”
The moment I stepped out into the hallway, the sneezes I’d been holding back burst out one after another.
‘From now on, I need to be extremely careful about flowers!’
I’d just learned a new fact about this body: a pollen allergy.
I’d had a vague guess, what with my throat itching the whole time in the drawing room, but now, feeling how severe the symptoms actually were, I grew more and more irritated.
“Seriously, why didn’t the novel mention something this important? Doesn’t it know how dangerous anaphylactic shock is— Achoo!”
Barely managing to stifle another cough, I sniffled and muttered my complaints under my breath.
This was all because of that Male Lead #2 I’d just met.
‘How can someone claim to have known me for thirteen years and not even realize I have a pollen allergy?’
Vincent’s face, right before I left the drawing room, flashed across my mind. Those gold irises trembling like candles in the wind, his complexion gone chalk-white.
He looked like someone who’d just been punched hard by reality, as if he truly had no idea about Edith’s allergy.
Apparently, that fact had really shocked him…
‘Well, it could just be another act, too.’
In the novel, Vincent only ever used his ability at Gate sites or in front of the female lead.
Thanks to childhood trauma, he was deathly afraid of going on a rampage.
Maybe this whole ‘childhood friend’ thing with Edith was nothing more than a device to stoke up the villainess’s inferiority complex.
‘In truth, the two of them probably just interacted often because of their families, but weren’t all that close…’
Thinking that, I frowned.
“But why come see me and make all that fuss?”
Wasn’t the ‘rain of flowers’ something he only did on dates with the female lead?
‘Looks to me like he just dropped by to check up on the girl who cheated death, and to ask about Llewellyn’s whereabouts.’
Unless he went out of his way to trigger my allergy on purpose, there’s really no other explanation.
“No way…”
Just then, I suddenly remembered him shouting desperately at me.
— Who… Who told you that? What bastard would say such a thing…!
— That was just an accident! The Gate, the situation was… not good…! See, you’re alive and well now, aren’t you!
It was said that the male leads who turned their backs on the duke’s daughter while chasing after the female lead felt their own pangs of guilt after her death.
If Vincent had also felt sorry in his own way and was trying to cheer me up with his ability…
“Ha!”
I let out a bitter laugh, dumbfounded.
Considering the trash he’d just said to me, it seemed far more believable he was feigning ignorance to cover up an assassination attempt.
But then I got annoyed, imagining how the real Edith would have just been happy regardless of any allergy.
“Do you have no pride at all? What could you possibly see in a guy like that— Achoo!”
Sneezing again, I wrinkled my entire face in irritation.
‘Ugh, this won’t do. I need to hurry back to my room and wash up or something!’
I picked up the pace.
Just as I reached the central foyer…
“…Oh.”
A tall figure stepped in through the wide-open front door.
It was Ethan Blake.
Judging by his travel clothes, he must have just returned from Ezenia.
Exuding coldness, he strode forward. And of course, our eyes met dead-on.
Right then, his previously smooth brow furrowed sharply.
‘Damn it, what timing.’
Running into Ethan was the last thing I wanted.
‘If that crazy Vincent hadn’t grabbed me at the end with his nonsense, I would’ve avoided this entirely.’
But there was no ignoring him now that he’d seen me.
With no other choice, I gave him a half-hearted nod and hurried up the stairs.
“You’re already up and about?”
A low, even voice stopped me.
When I turned, those clear blue eyes met mine directly.
‘Did he just get back from meeting Llewellyn?’
I slowed my steps and faced him.
Ethan’s blue irises looked a bit like Edith’s at first glance, but upon closer inspection, they were paler and more transparent.
Just like the ice crystals his ability resembled.
‘If both my legs work fine, why shouldn’t I be walking around?’
I was just about to say as much, but the butler, who seemed to have come to greet Ethan, jumped in before I could answer.
“Well, it’s just… Young Marquis Leandro paid a visit. He wanted to see Her Ladyship, so…”
“Vincent Leandro?”
He repeated the full name of Male Lead #2, and the furrow between his brows deepened.
