Ethan, who’d been running his sharp gaze over me, suddenly twisted one corner of his mouth upward.

“So, I guess you’ve given up pretending to have amnesia?”

“Ah… That— I was the one who told her about the Young Marquis, sir. Her Ladyship has been trying all day to recover her memories…”

The butler answered hastily, saving me the trouble of making excuses.

‘Vincent too… Why do these guys keep harping on about my amnesia?’

And always in that accusatory tone, as if picking a fight.

‘Do they think I’ll use it to claim innocence? Or are they worried I’ll endanger the female lead again?’

Edith dragging Llewellyn to the Gate to kill her is nothing but a one-sided accusation, with not a shred of proof.

If there were, I wouldn’t be standing here. I’d be in the imperial security bureau’s underground prison, charged as a traitor threatening national security for attempted murder of the one and only Purifier.

Of course, even if these male leads treat me as a criminal, there’s no way I’m going to meekly admit to anything.

In fact, shouldn’t they be grateful that I’m feigning amnesia?

‘What if I suddenly exposed how you shirked your Awakener duties and abandoned civilians? Then what would you do?’

Annoyed, I ran my eyes up and down Ethan the way he’d just done to me.

Maybe it was strange to see me just standing there in silence, because Ethan spoke up with a dissatisfied look.

“What are you staring at like that?”

“I was just wondering if you’d just returned from Ezenia.”

“How did you…?”

His brow briefly creased, then he shot back coldly,

“You claim to have no memory, but you’re somehow perfectly aware of my whereabouts.”

He looked like he was absolutely sick of this.

I found it absurd, honestly.

‘It’s not like I wanted to know, okay?!’

I already knew the date spot from reading the novel, and Ethan’s movements weren’t exactly a well-kept secret among the staff.

“I just figured it out. On my own,” I said, shrugging with a hint of sarcasm.

Ethan’s eyes opened wide for an instant.

— Figure it out. On your own.

That was exactly what he’d told me yesterday.

“You…”

“Did you meet the Purifier there, by any chance?”

Before he could say anything unpleasant, I quickly cut him off.

“What?”

“I asked if you met the Purifier, Llewellyn.”

Ethan’s face hardened, as if just hearing her name was offensive.

“Young Marquis Leandro asked me about her whereabouts, you see.”

“…….”

“I told him I didn’t know, but he didn’t really seem to believe me.”

At my indifferent reply, Ethan’s eyes twitched almost imperceptibly.

He seemed to finally realize how overly sensitive he was being, especially considering I was supposed to have lost my memories.

After a moment’s silence.

“…I didn’t see her.”

He answered reluctantly.

“My reason for going to Ezenia today wasn’t to meet her.”

“I see.”

Whether he went to see the female lead or not, I honestly didn’t care.

“Then could you pass along a message for me? Tell that guy I’m innocent, would you?”

Being a high-ranking Awakener had its perks, one of them being the ability to sense someone’s presence approaching from down the hall.

I jerked my chin toward the direction Vincent was coming from and continued,

“He didn’t even believe I only just woke up yesterday and only left my room today.”

The sound of footsteps heading this way stopped abruptly at my words.

Since he’s also an S-Class Awakener, I was sure he’d heard me.

“Well then.”

With that, I gave Ethan a perfunctory nod and started up the main staircase.

I was already exhausted, and the last thing I needed was to deal with both Male Lead #1 and Male Lead #2 at the same time.

Just then—

“Wait.”

Suddenly, Ethan grabbed my shoulder to stop me.

“……!”

Startled, my eyes went wide. He frowned, then asked abruptly,

“Did you come in contact with flowers?”

“…Sorry?”

Not immediately understanding the question, I stared at him blankly.

He suddenly reached his hand toward me.

‘What? Is he about to hit me or something—?!’

I instinctively squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for impact.

Tap.

A very light touch brushed along my temple, then fell away almost instantly.

It was a quick, careful gesture, as if he’d tried not to make contact.

“You’re allergic to pollen.”

“…….”

“Even a little exposure would’ve set you off right away. Didn’t you know?”
