A World Where You All Are The Villains - Chapter 15.1
With the knock, the butler’s urgent voice sounded from outside the door.
I thought I’d been careful, but it seemed the noise had leaked out into the hallway.
“What great timing.”
There wasn’t even a moment to enjoy the joy of having an amazing purification ability.
Glancing down at my hand, now sticky and smeared with black blood, I immediately crouched down in front of Eston.
Then I wiped my dirty hand off on the back of her clothes.
“Well, you’re going to throw those clothes away anyway. Let’s just share for now.”
Of course, washing with water would be cleaner, but I didn’t have time to go to the bathroom.
After hastily wiping my hand clean, I finally stood up.
My legs felt so weak I could have collapsed at any moment.
But gritting my teeth for the sake of cleaning up, I headed for the door.
Knock, knock, knock! Knock, knock, knock!
“Milady! Milady, please, say something…!”
Bang!
As soon as I opened the door, the butler—who’d been standing right in front—stumbled back in surprise.
“Ah, Milady! Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. Could you send Nancy in, please, Butler?”
“Pardon? Nancy, but why…?”
The butler looked puzzled at my words, but soon his face hardened.
“Did that girl Eston act rudely toward you again, Milady? I knew it, this won’t do. While you’re being healed, I should at least stay by your side…”
I blocked the butler, who was about to force his way into the room.
“The healing is done. Now, there’s something private I need to discuss, something only women can talk about. So please, stop talking and just send Nancy in.”
“But it’s my duty, by Young Master Ethan’s order, to thoroughly check on your condition…”
“Nancy! Would you bring in the plaster bust from out there? And if it’s too heavy, it’s alright if you trip on your way.”
“A-Ah, no need! Of course you two should talk. Please call me when you’re finished.”
Fortunately, the butler withdrew without further protest.
Nancy, with an obedient expression, slipped in through the gap and hurried into the room.
Clack.
The door closed right in front of the butler’s nose, and with that, the commotion settled down for now.
“H-Hiieek! Milady! What on earth happened in here?”
Naturally, Nancy was horrified at the state of the room.
Dragging my exhausted body, I collapsed onto the bed and said,
“Don’t worry, it’s not like I beat her up or anything.”
“I-I didn’t think it was anything that bad!”
“Then what?”
“I just… thought maybe the vase finally fell off the nightstand…”
She managed to answer to the end, her face timid.
‘That’s basically the same thing!’
It was so absurd I couldn’t even get angry.
I let out a hollow laugh, then pointed at the disaster on the floor.
“Sorry, but could you clean up a bit?”
“Yes, Milady!”
Thankfully, Nancy started moving right away without asking any more questions.
A little while later—
“Milady, um… what should we do about Eston?”
Nancy, who had cleaned up the black blood in no time, looked at me with a troubled expression.
Lying on the bed, resting, I glanced at the floor.
“Just leave her. She’ll wake up on her own.”
“But if she’s out too long, won’t the butler start getting suspicious?”
“Well, what can we do? We said we had private women’s matters to discuss.”
I answered listlessly, then asked,
“By the way, do you have any clothes you don’t wear? If not, mine are fine too.”
“Clothes I don’t wear? I do, but… what do you need them for?”
“I can’t exactly send her out looking like that.”
“Aha! I’ll get them right away!”
Quick to catch on, Nancy scurried off to the small side room attached to mine.
She’d been staying there ever since she’d been put in charge of taking care of me after my coma.
While Nancy was looking for clothes, I went to the dressing table and rummaged through the drawers.
I quickly found what I needed.
Though I’d been neglected by my father for failing to awaken, as the only daughter of the Duke, Edith’s drawers were overflowing with dazzling accessories.
I grabbed a ring set with a decently sized gem, just as Nancy returned with the clothes.
She put them down, then grabbed a wet cloth and began wiping the black blood off Eston’s face and hands.
