When I realized who had grabbed my hand from the butler, I immediately frowned.

“What the hell? Why are you here?”

“I came to go to the palace with you.”

“And why would you do that?”

“You don’t have a partner, Edith. Who else could handle you if not me?”

Vincent smirked, purposely getting under my skin.

I was dumbfounded by his overly relaxed attitude.

‘Didn’t we already finish things last time?’

After all that happened, he shows up again?

He was smiling innocently, as if he didn’t even remember our last conversation.

Thwack—!

I yanked my hand out of his grasp.

“I don’t need you, so go away.”

“That’s too harsh. I even gave up my own carriage just to go with you…”

He puffed out his cheeks and pouted like a child.

It was not something a grown man should do, but maybe because his face could pull it off, he actually looked rather charming.

‘Charming, my ass…’

Even as I denied it, I couldn’t help but admit. Looks really were powerful.

Dressed in a white tuxedo that unfortunately matched mine, he looked every bit the beloved young master of a noble house.

But that was beside the point.

“Butler, prepare a carriage for the Young Marquis Leandro.”

I tore my gaze away from him and looked at the butler coldly.

I wondered for a moment if the butler had conspired with him to set this up.

But apparently not. The butler tried to soothe me in a very cautious tone.

“Milady, I can prepare a carriage at any time, but if we delay any longer, you might not arrive on time.”

“Am I supposed to care about that? He barged in here uninvited, so he can figure it out himself.”

“You’re absolutely right, but…”

The butler wiped nervous sweat as he looked between Vincent and me.

“Since the Young Marquis has already come, wouldn’t it be better to go together as partners?”

“Butler.”

“Fwit— Butler, nice one!”

Vincent and I called out to the butler at the same time.

To make matters worse, Vincent even whistled, laughing playfully.

‘…So that’s how it’s going to be, huh?’

I looked around, wondering what I could say or do that would be heavy enough to get my point across.

“O-Of course! O-Our lady is perfect even just by existing, but…!”

Sensing exactly what I was thinking, the butler nearly shrieked in panic.

“If you go to a banquet like this, filled with young nobles, without a partner, you’ll attract everyone’s attention! You might get caught up in unnecessary gossip…!”

“……”

“Hrk, I—I’m really only giving this advice for your sake, Milady. Please, believe me…”

Feeling his life was at stake, the butler practically begged me, nearly in tears.

By now, he seemed to have a good sense of what I disliked.

‘Getting attention is a bad idea.’

I needed to avoid the male leads as much as possible. Especially Male Lead #4, who I’d heard was suspicious of me.

Realizing he wasn’t just making it up, I finally let out a long sigh and signaled to Vincent.

“…Get in.”

“Whoa, Butler! Not bad, huh?”

Slapping the butler’s shoulder as if to compliment him, Vincent said triumphantly,

“See, Edith! You should listen to the butler. Maybe you don’t remember because you lost your memory, but do you know how much you used to whine to me about not wanting to go alone?”

“……”

“You should be grateful that I showed up… Hey, hey!”

I ignored him and climbed into the carriage first.

Clack— Bang!

I made a point of slamming the door, but Vincent, unfazed, immediately followed after.

“Edith. The butler probably didn’t tell you this, but I’m actually a year older than you.”

“……”

“Ha… It’s such a pain having to deal with you being an idiot who’s lost all her memories.”

“……”

“But what can I do? I was always the only one looking after you when you were scatterbrained. So, just like when we were kids, why don’t you call me ‘Brother’ again?”

He sat naturally across from me, spouting nonsense.

I glanced at the meter above his head.

74%

It had been too dark outside for me to notice, but now I could see his rampage score had gone up.

‘Last time, it was 71%.’

It was obvious he hadn’t met the female lead lately.

A chill crept through me.

‘Just where the hell are you, Llewellyn?’

Please, hurry up and show up and take care of your men already!

The carriage finally departed.

I turned my head away, without regret, from the number above Vincent’s head.

“…It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, and you’re just going to keep staring out the window?”

Vincent tried again, undeterred by my consistent cold shoulder.

His voice was a little more subdued than before.

He could be joking around now, but I never knew when he’d suddenly turn.

With no other choice, I answered,

“We probably don’t have anything to say to each other, so let’s just go quietly.”

“Tch. I have a lot to say, though.”

“……”

“You’re still sulking, aren’t you?”
