A World Where You All Are The Villains - Chapter 32.2
Thwack, smack—!
Serge tossed the earth-dragon’s heart high in the air and caught it with one hand, repeating the motion as he spoke.
The Crown Prince, gasping as if being strangled, pleaded desperately.
“Wh, Why are you doing this to me, Grand Duke?!”
“That’s what I’d like to know. Why did Your Highness do that to such a loyal subject as myself?”
“What… What did I do…?!”
“You said the Purifier was in Volner, didn’t you?”
Thwack—!
Catching the blood-red stone one last time, Serge’s smile vanished, replaced by a blank expression as he muttered.
At that gaze, the Crown Prince flinched visibly, his shoulders trembling.
“T-That’s…!”
“I worked myself to the bone suppressing Gates, and when I went where Your Highness directed, the Purifier was nowhere to be found there. Instead, only this fellow was there to greet me.”
Thud!
Serge stomped hard on the back of the man groveling at his feet.
“Argh!”
“And then this guy sent me. Teleported me straight into the Gate Wave.”
“Please, spare me! I-I was wrong. Please, spare me…!”
“As soon as I saw the griffin there, I realized. Ah! I must have misunderstood Your Highness’s orders!”
Serge’s voice was exaggerated, almost theatrical, alternating with the man’s groans beneath his foot.
It was a bizarre and chilling scene.
“Our dear Crown Prince, every night you whined about wanting to snuggle in the Purifier’s arms, to grow up fast, awaken, and inherit the throne…”
“What nonsense…!”
“You wanted it so much, you even lied about the Purifier’s whereabouts and sent me to the Gate Wave. As your one and only uncle, how could I not grant you such a simple wish?”
“S-Shut up, Serge Belnac! Shut your mouth this instant!”
The Crown Prince shouted at the top of his lungs, face turning red as if a sore spot had been struck.
“Isn’t that right, everyone?”
But Serge only shrugged and looked around at the surrounding nobles.
“Hahaha!”
“Indeed!”
“The Grand Duke is a true loyalist!”
Several nobles, already aligned with the Grand Duke, eagerly chimed in with sly grins.
As the commotion died down, Serge flashed a sardonic smile and slowly turned back to the Crown Prince.
“So? Do you like my gifts, Your Highness?”
“You, you…!”
“Starting tomorrow, I’ll instruct the kitchens to serve you soup made from these, twice a day.”
“N-No! Stop it!”
“You really should have chosen your religion more carefully, Your Highness. What a disgrace, falling for a cult. Am I supposed to spend my life babysitting my young nephew at this age, hm?!”
Twisted in rage, the Grand Duke looked every bit a messenger just risen from hell.
“……!”
At that violent momentum, the Crown Prince suddenly shuddered.
And then.
“Ah… aah…”
His eyes rolled back, and he fainted on the spot.
“…Tsk, take him to his chambers.”
Serge finally relaxed his expression, gesturing dismissively with his chin as if annoyed.
At that moment, the attendants who had been frozen like statues snapped out of it.
“Y-Your Highness!”
“What are you doing, Grand Duke?!”
“We’ll report this to His Majesty without fail!”
The attendants hurriedly tended to the Crown Prince, protesting furiously.
But the man himself just snorted, not even pretending to listen.
“Do as you please.”
Bang!
Just then, the doors to the ballroom burst open and knights clad in pitch-black armor stormed in.
‘The Imperial Guard wears golden armor. If it’s black…’
They must be the personal soldiers of Male Lead #4.
The nobles, as if accustomed to such scenes, didn’t react much.
But the attendants, seeing the black armor, turned deathly pale.
Shouldering the Crown Prince, they hurried out the rear exit of the ballroom to avoid the knights.
“My lord, you’ve returned!”
Apparently no longer interested in the Crown Prince, the Grand Duke turned to the approaching knights.
“Clean this up.”
He nodded toward the monster corpses he’d tossed, and finally lifted his foot from the middle-aged man he’d been pinning down.
And then.
Thud—!
Without warning, he struck the man’s nape hard.
“Gah!”
With a strangled scream, the man’s body collapsed limply to the floor.
‘No way… Did he… kill him?!’
My heart dropped.
Even if the story was diverging from the novel, I never thought one of the male leads would be this brutal.
As I alternated my gaze between the motionless man and Male Lead #4, my face twisted in a grimace.
“……!”
At that moment, my eyes met his.
