“Guh… guh-urk…!”

I never knew not being able to breathe could be this painful.

My chest felt like it was going to burst, dizziness overwhelmed me, and my vision kept flickering between white and black.

Unconsciously, I dug my nails into my neck, scratching furiously, but even as I showed such a pitiful sight, he continued to ask, completely unfazed,

“You hated and tormented the Purifier constantly, didn’t you? You admit that, right?”

…Blink.

Trembling all over, I barely managed to blink once.

‘Please, let me live…’

My eyelids were soaked.

Without realizing it, tears were streaming down my face.

“And you already have a record of kidnapping the Purifier and dragging her to Tollen, right?”

“Ku… huk…”

“And then you hear the Purifier’s missing, come here to check, and really, she’s gone, the room’s a mess, and you’re hiding in the closet?”

“Hmmmh…”

“So, is it reasonable or not for me to suspect you as the mastermind behind the kidnapping, Ducal Lady? Hm?”

Beeeeeeep—

He was saying something, but I couldn’t hear over the ringing in my ears.

My legs gave out.

But even that was controlled by his telekinesis, so I couldn’t collapse.

I had reached my limit.

I knew, in a few more seconds, I’d either faint or die.

“One last question, Ducal Lady. This time, answer carefully.”

“Hu— kuh…!”

“Are you truly not involved in this incident?”

Blood rushed to my eyes, popping tiny vessels one by one.

A chilling sensation swept over me, as if all the blood was draining from my body through my toes, and my limbs went limp.

Even the strength in my fingers scratching at my neck faded.

They say your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.

But when it came down to it, that wasn’t true.

‘…I don’t want to die.’

In that instant, what remained in my head was nothing but stubbornness and desperation.

‘After all I went through to escape that damn house, after clawing my way up to become a research director! Am I really going to die this pathetically?’

No way.

Even as my vision went dark and I was just about to stop breathing, I gritted my teeth and stretched out a hand.

Tap! Tap, tap!

After several failed attempts, I barely managed to tap the body of the person standing in front of me.

It wasn’t out of any impulse to land one last hit before dying or anything.

“What is it?”

“Ku… I… want… to… guh!”

“Talk?”

With the last of my strength, I forced my lips to move, and Serge looked at me, puzzled.

“You have something to say?”

Thank God, he understood what I was trying to convey.

Blink, blink, blink, blink.

I squeezed my eyes shut and opened them again and again, desperately trying to say yes.

It was a gamble, half and half.

It wouldn’t have been strange if he just snapped my neck, saying he didn’t care.

But in both the novel and my own experience, Male Lead #4 was always weak to curiosity.

Maybe he’d also let his guard down because I was a non-awakened.

“…Puh—! Huh, cough, cough!”

Suddenly, the invisible force that had been strangling me loosened with a snap.

Immediately, a violent cough burst from my lips.

At last, my airway was open, but I couldn’t breathe right away.

Still, desperately trying to survive, I gulped down air.

“Huuuh, huff! Haa…”

Bracing myself on my knees, I gasped as if I’d just run a 100-meter dash, and the bastard, unable to wait any longer, hurried me.

“Okay, then. Let’s hear it, Ducal Lady.”

“Haa, huu… The Purifier…”

Forcing my hoarse voice out, the words scraped out like rusty metal.

My throat tasted of blood, and tears, snot, and every bodily fluid streamed down my face.

Which made me furious.

“Yes, the Purifier. So?”

“Instead of worrying… huh, worrying about that…”

“Hm? Worrying?”

“Worry about your own damn body… you bastard, huhk…”

I roughly wiped my face with one trembling hand, forcing my upper body upright.

Grasp!

Then I reached out and clung to his clothes so hard it was like I was trying to rip them.

Even that little bit of support made me feel like I could finally breathe.

“’Instead of worrying about the Purifier, worry about your own body, you bastard’…?”

He seemed too busy trying to figure out what I meant to immediately push my hand away.

“Hm. Is that supposed to be advice for me, Ducal Lady?”

97%

His dazed face, not realizing what was wrong with him, was honestly laughable.

Now, he didn’t even seem that scary anymore.

Maybe because I had nothing left to lose.

“Yes.”

“What?”

“You have a nosebleed, you bastard!”

“What…?”

“Purify!”

I had no time to explain to the dumbfounded bastard. There was only one chance.

      She was quite stupid.
I guess this is a plot hole.
She knew everyone thought she kidnapped that girl. And she went to her room to “check”.
