After walking up to Baron Gavent, she suddenly gestured toward the cage.

Clank!

At once, the large men unlocked it and opened the cage door.

Then they roughly dragged out one Corrupted whose face was half rotted away.

“Grrrk! Kieeeek!”

“Oh, Anderson! My poor son!”

Baron Gavent cried out in anguish toward the Corrupted.

“Step back.”

After forcing the Baron aside, the men pushed the Corrupted down on his knees in front of the woman.

“Grrk, grrrk…”

Perhaps it had already been quite some time since he was exposed to miasma, because the Corrupted did not struggle much.

At that state, he would die soon.

But no one seemed to care.

“Now then! Everyone, compose yourselves and watch. The moment of the miracle…!”

Just then, the speaker calmed the excited believers.

As the hall fell silent in an instant, the woman moved.

In her hand was a golden cup that looked like a chalice.

When she lifted it high, the large men removed the gag from Baron Gavent’s son and forced his head up.

Trickle…

The woman tilted the cup and poured its contents into the Corrupted’s mouth.

‘…Blood?’

The thick liquid dripping down was pitch-black, like oxidized oil.

It looked just like the nosebleed Awakeners shed when they go into rampage.

“Grrk! Cough, grrrrk!”

After emptying the unknown liquid, the woman set the cup down and placed one hand on the Baron’s son’s head.

A moment later.

Flaaash―!

As if performing purification, a white light burst from her hand.

I had been watching without even breathing, but suddenly something felt strange.

‘…It’s not green?’

Moreover, I had been too distracted to notice earlier, but there was no number above the woman’s head.

That meant she wasn’t an Awakener.

‘…Then what is that light?’

As I watched the unfolding scene in growing confusion.

Suddenly, Baron Gavent’s son began trembling violently.

“Grrrk… Kraaah!”

Soon after, he started convulsing.

“H-Hold him down!”

“Ahh!”

“Kyaa!”

Several large men rushed in and grabbed him, but it wasn’t enough.

“Ugh!”

One by one, they were thrown aside by the Corrupted’s tremendous strength.

The woman also pulled her hand away and stepped back in alarm.

“Grrrraaaah! Kraaah!”

The Corrupted lay sprawled across the platform, his eyes rolled back as his body twisted violently.

If there was any relief, it was that he wasn’t trying to bite or attack anyone.

Creak, crack…

But the way his limbs bent backward like something out of an exorcism film did not look normal.

‘That’s not a purification reaction. What did she do? Why isn’t anyone doing anything?’

Everyone simply stared blankly at the Corrupted writhing on the floor. No one took any action.

Just as my anxiety was rising.

“Keuh!”

With a sudden dying cry, the Baron’s son stopped struggling.

A moment later.

The man who had been lying spread out slowly rose to his feet.

His face was still half rotted and grotesque, and his pupils, blackened and expanded by miasma, stared blankly ahead.

Then he opened his mouth and spoke.

“F-Father…”

At the clear pronunciation, my eyes widened instantly.

‘He’s been… purified?’

That couldn’t be.

If he had been purified, the blackened pupils should have returned to normal first…

“Oh my God! Anderson, my son! You’ve finally come back!”

“Waaaaaah!”

But the overwhelming cheers and applause drowned out my thoughts.

“Behold! Sephirot’s miracle! The power of our church’s pride, the Purifier!”

The speaker shouted in a voice filled with emotion.

The woman presumed to be Llewellyn had already returned to her place and was waving confidently.

“Ahh, Sephirot!”

“Please give our child a chance too, Purifier!”

“Praise! Praise! We believe! We believe!”

Cheers and prayers mixed chaotically.

Taking advantage of the noise, I whispered to Serge.

“…Your Highness, do you think that person is really Llewellyn?”

“Who knows.”

Tilting his head crookedly as he stared into the air, he suddenly curled one corner of his lips into a faint smile.

“Shall we check?”

“……”

“Look ahead, Ducal Lady.”

With a puzzled expression, I obediently turned my head.

Whoosh!

At that moment, without a single breeze, the hood covering the woman’s head slipped off.
