Cielo, seated in the room, couldn’t erase the tension from his face as he swallowed dryly. Today was the most important day of his life.

“Lord Cielo, the ceremony will begin shortly.”

At the voice of the well-mannered attendant, Cielo swallowed again. Rising to his feet, he stood before the mirror holding a bouquet of red and purple lisianthus.

The hair that once flowed down to his waist had been cleanly cut.

The real reason Cielo had grown it long was to hide the abuse from the twins.

But the twins no longer tormented him, and there was nothing left for him to hide either, so it was a choice he could finally make.

“…Hoo.”

Ever since Cielo had been punished by the emperor,

so many things had changed.

The emperor blamed himself for not noticing the actions of Duke Esteban, in whom he had placed his trust. He came to accept that rather than confronting the truth, he had chosen to stay comfortable in ignorance.

So he stepped down from the throne and passed it on to his son, Eli.

And that wasn’t all.

After Oscar’s memories returned fully, the Doberman family wasted no time in beginning preparations for the wedding.

Truthfully, there were concerns. Because of the Esteban family’s actions, the ducal house had been dissolved, and Cielo was no longer a noble.

But Damon made it clear that he didn’t care in the slightest and declared that Cielo would be accepted as part of the Doberman family.

Furthermore, since Cielo would marry Ryan, who would one day inherit the Doberman family, he announced that Cielo would also be granted the authority of the duchess.

There were no objections to Damon’s declaration.

In fact, public opinion overwhelmingly supported it, believing there was nothing to be gained from trying to stop the marriage. After all, the Esteban family had already caused disaster once by blocking a marriage.

Typhon…

Until now, Cielo hadn’t understood why Typhon had gone so far as to risk his life to save Aire.

But after hearing Damon’s words, he finally knew.

How deeply Typhon had loved Aire—and how that love had changed.

“The former Duchess of Esteban, Aire… was an Omega of common birth whom Typhon met at the academy.”

Even back then, Typhon had been arrogant to a fault and looked down on commoners.

But the moment he met Aire, his attitude completely changed. Damon, who had observed them the whole time, said even he had been shocked by how completely Typhon fell for Aire.

Yet the Esteban family refused to accept Aire because she was of common birth. They didn’t even bother to consider how intelligent and kind she was—her origins alone were reason enough for rejection.

Still, Typhon insisted and forced Aire into the Esteban household.

“There was a lot of opposition. I even tried to explain that it wasn’t something done for Aire’s sake. But Typhon wouldn’t listen.”

Typhon instead grew suspicious of Damon, who dared to speak about his relationship with Aire. Eventually, he deluded himself into thinking that Damon was in love with Aire and trying to sabotage him.

That was how the rift between Typhon and Damon began—and why Typhon came to loathe the Doberman family.

“…Then how did the two of them manage to get married?”

At Cielo’s question, Damon let out a long sigh, his face looking haggard.

“It wasn’t a formal marriage at first. He simply brought her into the mansion and lived with her.”

Typhon paid no mind to the elders of the family who opposed him. He was the only one capable of leading the household at the time, and among all—even including distant relatives—he was by far the most capable.

Knowing that he would inherit the title of Duke of Esteban, Typhon announced his marriage to Aire the moment he received it.

Though all the elders and the collateral branches opposed it and refused to attend the wedding, Typhon’s resolve never wavered.

But marriage wasn’t the end of it.

“They… attacked Aire quite a lot.”

The elders of the Esteban family said that for the honor of the family, Aire had to die.

To those who wished only for pure noble bloodlines to continue, Aire was nothing more than a woman who had dared to bring lowborn blood into the family.
