So, they hired people and made several attempts to kill Aire.
“That was when it started—when Typhon began imprisoning her.”
It had only been half a year since Typhon became Duke of Esteban.
Aire nearly died from poisoning, and after that incident, she disappeared into the deepest part of the estate.
She no longer appeared in public, and even asking about her whereabouts became taboo.
Everyone said Typhon had gone mad.
And they weren’t wrong.
One year after their marriage, Aire became pregnant with twins.
But when Typhon saw how difficult the childbirth had been for her, he accused Sol and Pielago of trying to kill her. He came to see even his own children as threats to Aire.
Then, when Cielo was born—
Typhon saw Aire’s attempt to hide him as an act of betrayal.
“I don’t know what happened after that. Rumor has it Aire took her own life… but Typhon tried to conceal everything related to her, so… I could never learn anything more.”
No one knows exactly when Aire died, or when Typhon began planning to summon demons.
But in the end, Typhon drove Aire to her death with his own actions.
The very efforts he made to protect her became the poison that killed her.
In the wake of all this, people began to whisper,
“Everyone in the Esteban family is born with madness in their blood.”
As a result, more people came to believe that whoever Cielo chose to marry, his wishes should be honored.
‘Should I be thankful for that…?’
Cielo gave a bitter smile and shook his head.
Typhon’s reckless actions had harmed more than a few. There was no need to pity him, nor to romanticize his and Aire’s love as a tragic but beautiful story.
Aire was a victim, wounded by the emotion Typhon had forced on her under the name of “love.”
And Typhon was simply her abuser. That was all it needed to be.
“The grooms have arrived, Lord Cielo.”
While Cielo calmly gathered his thoughts, the tightly closed doors swung open at the attendant’s voice.
Soon, two large hands reached out toward him. When he looked up, he saw Oscar and Ryan standing there, wearing identical outfits and smiling.
They looked like they had the whole world in their hands. And when Cielo saw those joyful smiles, he reached out and grasped their hands tightly.
On the day he first opened his eyes to this world,
he had believed that as long as he wished happiness for others, he too might someday find happiness. So he had chosen to deceive himself, to suppress false feelings, and hide.
But because there were people who stood by him, believing and waiting for him,
he had been able to shed all fear and rise again.
No one deserves to live an unhappy life.
Everyone in this world has the right to build a life of their own.
Each day lived under the name “Cielo” was now filled with happiness.
He could finally express the emotions he had spent his life hiding.
He had come to realize that he was someone who deserved to love and be loved.
And so, the one who had once been scorned by the world as nothing more than a “villain,”
was now a person loved by the most wonderful men in the world.
“Ryan.”
This gentle red-haired man had helped him realize that truth.
“Oscar.”
This man with violet eyes had shown him unconditional love.
“I love you.”
The story had long diverged from its original course, and it could no longer torment Cielo.
Because from now on, it would be a life he shaped himself.
And he wasn’t afraid.
Because he would be with the ones he loved—who held his hands so tightly.
