Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 16.2
His cheek burned, and the taste of blood filled his mouth — likely from the inside of his lip splitting.
“W-Wait, Lord Esteban, I… I didn’t…!”
Ailee looked utterly flustered, glancing back and forth between her hand and Cielo.
“…Master…”
Cielo gently rubbed his stinging cheek, then immediately turned to check on Oscar.
“Are you alright?”
“Huh? Y-Yes?”
“You’re not hurt anywhere, are you?”
At the kind question, Oscar slowly nodded. Even though his cheek was swollen, Cielo simply smiled and gently patted Oscar’s head.
As if to reassure him not to be afraid, Cielo hugged Oscar and lightly patted his back, then turned to Ryan and said,
“Please take Oscar and wait outside.”
“…What are you going to do?”
“What do you think?”
Cielo gave a brief reply and then pulled the dagger from Ryan’s belt. Without hesitation, he drove it down onto the whistle lying on the table.
Crack!
With the sharp sound of splitting wood, the whistle broke clean in two. Ailee stared at Cielo in shock.
“W-What… what do you think you’re doing…?!”
That was enough. Just destroying the whistle had erased one of the many pains Oscar would have faced in the future.
“Why? Was that whistle so precious that you’d strike me over it?”
“T-That’s… I didn’t mean to hurt Lord Esteban, I only meant to educate Oscar… Y-You wouldn’t have gotten hurt if you hadn’t interfered!”
Cielo let out a bitter laugh at her shameless words. The more he listened, the more enraged he became.
What kind of heart must parents have to abuse and torment their own child?
“You said you’re short on labor, right?”
“…”
“Fine. I’ll give you what you want. But there’s a condition.”
Their faces lit up slightly at that. But due to the chilling look in Cielo’s eyes, they didn’t dare show their joy openly—just cleared their throats and lowered their gazes.
“Never come to the palace again. Don’t even think about seeing Oscar. From now on, you no longer have a son.”
“…Excuse me?”
“I will raise Oscar. I will be his family now. As for you two—leave, and never return.”
Matthew, who had been quietly listening, lifted an eyebrow and spoke.
“No matter what, Oscar is still our son. How could parents just throw away their child like that?”
“…”
“Make it 100 gold. Add just 100 more gold and we’ll do as you wish.”
How foolish of him to think, even for a moment, that there might be a shred of parental affection left in them. Ailee and Matthew were no different.
As soon as Matthew finished speaking, Cielo calmly pulled the dagger from the table and held it.
“It seems you’ve misunderstood something.”
“…?”
“I’m not negotiating with you to give Oscar to me. I’m taking him from you.”
Cielo gently touched his now-swollen cheek and looked at them with eyes full of murderous intent.
“Have you ever seen a thief pay for what they steal?”
“W-What are you saying…?!”
“No — in the end, you’ll likely be executed for disgracing a noble. So rather than say I’m stealing, it’s more accurate to say I’m taking in a child who’s now alone.”
Cielo smiled as he spoke. No matter how you heard it, it was clear he meant to kill them both for slapping him.
“So choose. Will you quietly take what I give and disappear—or shall I leave this room behind with your severed heads on the floor?”
“…”
“The choice is yours.”
…Gulp.
Ailey swallowed hard and forced a strained smile. Her expression said she couldn’t believe someone would actually kill over a single mistake.
“C-Come now… Lord Esteban, surely you’re joking, aren’t you…?”
“Oh? Does it sound like a joke to you? If that’s what you think—then feel free to stay, and leave your necks behind.”
Cielo smiled brightly.
