Carrying a bundle of money, Cielo headed to the Fixer Guild and made a request to protect Oscar for the next 20 years.

Not only that, he also asked them to gather all related information in case anyone tried to harm Oscar or spread malicious rumors about him.

And while he was at it, he left a request for assistance when he eventually tried to leave the Imperial Palace in the future.

Unlike Cielo, who returned to the palace in high spirits after making the request, the guildmaster of the Fixer Guild, Styx, wore a troubled expression as he remained behind.

“What am I supposed to do with this…”

On one side of his desk sat the money bundle Cielo had left behind, and next to it were several gold bars.

“What’s wrong, boss? Did the youngest of the Esteban family leave you with some weird request?”

“No… It’s more that… it slightly conflicts with a request submitted by the Doberman heir.”

Styx frowned as he fell into deep thought.

Ryan Almatart Doberman, a regular and premium client of the Fixer Guild.

He had, for several years, wanted to know every single detail about Cielo’s whereabouts and activities. Because of that, the Fixer Guild had been secretly feeding him information through a member stationed inside the palace.

But now, Cielo had come and asked for the opposite.

“It may not happen, but if someone tries to learn anything about me in the future, I’d like you to block that information as well.”

“We can only carry out the request properly if you give us specifics.”

“Hmm… Not right away, but I think I’ll be leaving the capital within the next few years. If, at that time, someone tries to find out where I went, I’d like that information blocked.”

“There’s nothing in this world that can be hidden completely. But if that’s what you want, we’ll give it a try.”

Styx scratched his head.

As he looked back and forth between the money pouch and the gold bars with a bewildered expression, people around him started chiming in.

“Listen to the one who paid more!”

“Or the one who seems more likely to hold greater power later.”

“If it were me, I’d side with the regular.”

Letting out a long sigh, Styx eventually pulled out a letter and began writing to Ryan:

That Cielo seemed to be preparing to leave.

Late into the night—

After confirming that Cielo was fast asleep, Oscar quietly slipped out of the room and headed to the clinic. Even though everyone had gone home, the lights at the clinic were still on.

Oscar held his breath and quietly watched his profile.

The eldest son of House Doberman, who had entered the palace as a royal knight. A man who knew more about traits than anyone and the one who could save his master’s life.

Despite the late hour and everyone else having left, Ryan never strayed from the clinic and devoted himself to research. Sometimes he helped the healers see patients, but mostly he researched suppressants for trait-bearers.

Lately, Oscar knew, Ryan had been staying late every night to study a cure for Cielo’s illness.

“Ah, I wondered who it was—it’s you, Pascius.”

At Ryan’s voice, Oscar gave a brief nod of greeting and naturally took a seat at the table.

“He wasn’t in much pain today. He ate less than usual… Oh, and his pheromones were a bit stronger than normal. I think his heat cycle is about to start.”

Upon hearing that, Ryan tossed aside what he was doing and pulled out a chart, jotting notes rapidly.

The thick chart was packed from front to back with detailed records dating back several years.

“It’s been seven months since the last heat cycle… That’s a long delay. It’s probably going to be rough again.”

Ryan clicked his tongue.

Every time Cielo went into heat, Ryan tried to be there, but his schedule never aligned and he always missed it.

“I hope you miss it again this time.”

Oscar muttered under his breath, sincere in his wish.

He hated seeing Cielo in pain, but he hated even more the idea of Cielo spending the cycle alone with Ryan.

“Oh? You little brat. Not gonna show me this letter?”

“…This time, I hope House Doberman doesn’t summon you away.”

At the sudden switch to formal speech, Ryan tossed him the letter.

“You were right. Looks like Cielo is planning to leave.”

Ryan tapped part of the document as he spoke.

The letter was filled with detailed information about Cielo.

Most of it, Oscar and Ryan already knew—but some entries documented events that had occurred when neither of them were watching.

“Plans to flee after the disciple’s trait awakens…”
