Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 24.2
Oscar unconsciously pressed his lips together.
He already knew that his trait would influence Cielo’s fate. They had talked about it in front of the emperor and a crowd.
He used to wonder what Cielo planned to do with Eli after his trait manifested…
“Did Master really think he could run away completely?”
Cielo would disappear.
Oscar would wake up alone in bed in the morning, and at night, he’d have to fall asleep shivering without any warmth.
There would be no one left to call his name kindly.
No one to whisper love to him anymore.
‘…Was I not needed?’
When doubt started to rise, Oscar shook his head. Cielo always said he needed him. That he was always necessary and helpful.
‘Then why was he trying to leave?’
‘Was it really because of that damn Crown Prince?’
Oscar’s eyes turned cold as he raised his head and looked at Ryan.
“Is that bastard dead yet?”
“If Cielo hears you talk like that, he’ll grab you by the scruff of your neck.”
“Has that mutt-like guy died yet?”
“Cielo already called the Dobermans the mutts. That word’s wasted on us. Let’s just go with trash.”
“Then has that trash died?”
“Not yet.”
Ryan, who had to correct Oscar several times, finally gave a straight answer. Oscar’s face twisted like crumpled paper.
“It’s been three weeks.”
“Hey, you think taking care of the Crown Prince is easy? We’ve mostly figured out where he is. His death will be explained as a result of an uprising.”
Because of the war, many people held grudges against both the emperor and the Crown Prince. Some wanted revenge for comrades, others for family.
Ryan had subtly encouraged those feelings.
He told them that the Crown Prince had come to the North and that now was the time to strike. If he became emperor, the Empire of Asta would fall for good.
“When do you think he’ll die?”
“Soon. Once he’s dead, Cielo won’t have to run anymore. There’ll be no need to escape.”
That would mean fewer headaches over Cielo for a while. If Eli was dead, the marriage issue would be resolved cleanly.
“Maybe I should propose before the Duke of Esteban stirs things up again.”
As Ryan entertained that thought, Oscar spoke in a serious tone.
“Even if the marriage problem is resolved, what if Master still tries to leave the palace?”
“Why do you think he would?”
“Because of me.”
“Like what?”
“Right now, all the attention is on Master. Even if I manifest my trait, as a commoner without any backing, I probably won’t attract much notice.”
Even now, Cielo didn’t try to build up his own honor but gave all the credit to Oscar.
Even when he healed others while clutching his heart in pain, he would say, “That was Pascius,” and step aside.
Thanks to that, Oscar gained a bit of fame. But that made him even more anxious.
He feared that Cielo, trying to help him, might leave the palace altogether.
A deep uneasiness climbed through his chest.
Cielo would leave.
If he went somewhere Oscar couldn’t reach no matter how far he stretched…
He didn’t want to let that happen.
He wanted to fall asleep every night holding him close, breathing in the soft scent of acacia.
When Cielo was too dazed from sleep to move, Oscar wanted to carry him and lower him into a warm bath.
What could he do to keep Cielo from leaving?
Maybe if he locked him up and sealed every door, he’d stay in place.
Cielo liked books, so filling the room with them might make him happy.
If he held him tight enough so he couldn’t go anywhere…
“Ah!”
Oscar forcefully suppressed the rising desire.
Cielo would definitely hate that.
‘Master never did anything I hated.’
So he had to change too. He had to hold himself back. He had to suppress the desire to absorb everything about Cielo, to devour all of him.
But he didn’t want to.
As those two thoughts twisted together in his mind, Ryan spoke.
“Look at this brat’s eyes. Does Cielo know your eyes look completely insane right now?”
Oscar quietly touched the corner of his eyes. The sharp edge from his uncontrollable emotion disappeared, and his eyes rounded again.
Just like how they always softened when he was with Cielo.
“So, if Master really says he’s going to leave, what will you do?”
“What else can I do? If that’s what he wants, I’ll have to let him go.”
“…Are you out of your mind?”
