Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 39.2
At Oscar’s words, Cielo rolled his eyes.
It really didn’t seem like a romantic relationship could bloom between those two.
‘…Too much has changed to use the original novel as an excuse anymore.’
Oscar was never even dispatched to a place like this in the original story.
“Well, I guess it can’t be helped.”
In the past, he might’ve said something like “Oscar’s supposed to be loved by the main characters…!” But things were different now.
The main characters from the novel all had terrible personalities and no integrity.
If the original plot was already falling apart and going its own way, then all he wanted was for the real Oscar to be happy.
Just as Cielo was vaguely thinking that—
“Hm?”
A sharp pain suddenly flared near his chest.
It felt strangely heavy, as if something were weighing down on him like undigested food. He felt suffocated.
“What’s wrong, my Lord? Are you feeling unwell?”
At that moment, Oscar bent down to meet Cielo’s gaze.
He looked like he was about to pull out some medicine any second.
“…S-Something’s wrong! Everyone, take cover!”
“Aaagh, aaaaaaah!”
Raw panic and someone’s scream rang out, unable to mask the shock.
Ryan, who had been lying on the floor of the tent, sprang up from sleep.
“What is it, what’s going on?!”
“M-Monsters! Monsters have appeared! I can already see f-five of them!”
Ryan quickly rushed to Cielo’s side, scanning the area to assess the situation.
There were five who had never seen a battlefield properly.
Seven knights who would be more of a hindrance than help.
Only three, including Ryan, looked capable of taking the monsters head-on.
And one person who couldn’t fight at all.
The temporary camp had been set up a little ways outside the village, so if they managed to retreat properly, the monsters wouldn’t make it into the village.
“Oscar. That ability you mentioned before—has it fully awakened?”
“Yes. I’ve trained well with it.”
At Oscar’s reply, Ryan handed Cielo over to him without hesitation.
“Take Cielo and fall back. We’ll try to hold the line here.”
“Understood.”
“Lord Anderson, cover Pascius. Everyone else, retreat beyond the monsters’ line of sight—move!”
At Ryan’s command, everyone in the camp began to move in unison.
“Raaaargh!”
Hearing the inhuman roar for the first time in his life, Cielo looked up in shock while clutching tightly to Oscar’s neck.
The creatures walking upright had the heads of pigs and cows, and curled goat horns sprouting from their ears.
Their bodies were three times the size of an average human, thick and massive.
Each one carried a club as large and thick as a grown man.
“Wh-What is that…”
Without realizing it, Cielo gripped Oscar even tighter.
He’d known monsters existed in this world, but knowing and seeing were entirely different things.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
His heart pounded more fiercely than usual.
The moment the black eyes of one beast-headed monster landed on him—
“Guh…!”
He couldn’t breathe. A searing pain shot through his body as if it were being torn apart.
“『Time to stop playing and come back to your big brothers, Cielo.』”
“『Come to the villa in the woods. If you don’t…』”
An eerie voice followed, as though the monster itself were speaking.
Cielo gasped, horrified.
As soon as Ryan noticed the monster’s gaze locked onto him, he shouted.
“Go, now!”
At that thunderous command, Oscar kicked off the ground in a flash.
Not long after, the distant cry of a dying monster echoed nearby.
“…Tch.”
But the situation wasn’t improving so easily.
“Who the hell reported that the monsters were gone?”
Oscar stopped mid-run and held Cielo even more tightly.
With a growl, a monster emerged—this one had a different face from the ones they’d seen back at the base camp.
Oscar, tense and focused, moved his lips and whispered:
“My Lord. Can you hold on tight?”
“…What?”
“It’s going to shake a lot. But you don’t need to worry—no matter what sound you hear, don’t open your eyes… Just trust me and hold on.”
