At the gentle question, Cielo gave a vague expression.

Lately, the twins hadn’t approached Cielo directly. It was just that the voices he heard through the monsters left a lingering discomfort.

“Speak freely. If you want me to…”

I’ll kill them for you.

He didn’t say the rest, but Cielo could tell what he meant to say.

“No, nothing… happened. There’s nothing going on.”

“Really?”

“Yes. I haven’t met them recently, and I haven’t received any message from them either.”

After replying, the voice of the monster suddenly came to mind.

How could they have transmitted their voices through a monster?

Did Sol or Pielago have some kind of ability related to monsters?

No, if that were the case, the imperial palace would’ve tried to control them long ago. After all, the empire was plagued by monsters every year.

But if there’s no connection, then how?

Was there some kind of special method?

To find out… I guess I have no choice but to go to the place the monster mentioned.

The Esteban villa  in the northern forest.

He couldn’t be sure whether such a villa truly existed, but given how precisely the location was described, the chances were high.

He didn’t know why he could hear the monster’s voice, nor why it was using the twin’s voice.

It wasn’t something that appeared in the original story, nor did it exist in the real Cielo’s memories.

‘There’s just not enough information. If only I knew a little more about monsters…’

As he mulled it over, Cielo naturally began to shift, intending to get out of Ryan’s arms. He thought maybe he could go to the library and find some answers in books.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

But Ryan tightened his arms around Cielo, refusing to let him go.

“The library. I want to research monsters.”

“Not right now.”

“Is it nighttime already? I can’t tell with the curtains drawn…”

“Do I sound like I’m saying no because it’s night? You were coughing up blood—black blood—and collapsed. And now you’re saying you want to go to the library instead of resting? What’s wrong with you…!”

Ryan opened his mouth and poured out a scolding over Cielo’s head.

“Ah, ah, alright…! I won’t go…!”

But perhaps not trusting Cielo’s words, Ryan lay down on the bed while still holding onto him. Then he pulled the blanket up to cover them, wrapping his arms around Cielo’s chest and his legs around his body to keep him in place.

“…Ryan, you’re heavy.”

“If you snuggle up a little closer, I’d be less heavy.”

His teasing tone was met with a surprisingly earnest reply.

When Cielo turned to look at him wide-eyed, Ryan was gazing at him with eyes full of warmth—eyes that looked as though they were suppressing something.

Gulp.

As Cielo swallowed dryly, Ryan’s hand, which had been holding his upper body, brushed along Cielo’s lower lip.

“I want to kiss you.”

“…”

“I want to be more deeply intertwined with you, Cielo.”

At those words, Cielo parted his lips. On Ryan’s face was a trace of sorrow and yearning.

“Ah…”

Ryan never asked about what had happened between Oscar and Cielo.

There’s no way he wasn’t curious.

Six years ago.

From that day on, Ryan had been openly showing his feelings for Cielo.

At first, Cielo had thought it was just light interest. No matter how much he tried to imitate the “real” Cielo, his fundamental behavior was different, so Ryan must’ve been curious about that.

But that wasn’t it.

In the six years he had watched Ryan, he learned that Ryan was not someone who spoke empty words. Whether compliments or scoldings, everything he said was based on truth.

And it was the same when it came to emotions.

“Do it with me. The marriage.”

“Then let’s do what comes before marriage.”

“This mutt is pretty good at ‘waiting.’”

Among all the things Ryan had ever said to Cielo, there had never been a lie.

Yet Cielo could only stay silent in the face of Ryan’s kindness and consideration.

“Should I wait a little longer, Cielo?”

Ryan looked into Cielo’s eyes, as if he would accept any answer he gave.

Ryan’s red eyes reflected only Cielo and no one else.

“Why do you… What could you possibly like so much about me…? I’ve never given you a proper answer, I’ve only left things hanging. Don’t you hate me for that?”

“You’d think so. But I don’t.”

“…”

“It’s funny, isn’t it? I can’t even bring myself to be mad at you.”

Ryan gave a low laugh and gently stroked Cielo’s cheek.

He had said he wanted to kiss him, but when permission didn’t come, he quietly waited.

“…”

Cielo bit the soft flesh inside his mouth and shifted slightly.

When he turned to face Ryan and quietly looked up at him, Ryan smiled and gently ran his fingers through Cielo’s long hair.
