Oscar had a pleasant expression on his face.

‘Master showed a vulnerable side…’

A week ago, Cielo had collapsed in the hallway because of Eli’s pheromones and only came to his senses much later.

Realizing too late that he had been clinging to Oscar, Cielo thanked him over and over. And since that day, Cielo had given Oscar expensive clothes and shoes as a form of repayment.

It was the first time in his life that he had ever received a gift from someone.

Unable to hide his joy, Oscar once again walked down the corridor today, quietly watching Cielo’s face.

Cielo’s expression, which had always held irritation, had changed a lot. Though he still had a blank face most of the time, these days, he would occasionally smile or roll his eyes, which are expressions Oscar had never seen before.

Didn’t that mean he had opened his heart?

Thinking so, Oscar steadied himself.

‘If I keep doing well, Master might really accept me as his disciple. Then he’ll probably teach me a lot about healing too. He even asked me yesterday if there was a book I wanted to read.’

‘I have to do better.’

‘If I treat my Master well and quickly carry out what I’m told, I won’t be abandoned.’

‘I didn’t want to be abandoned.’

With that strong resolve in his heart, Oscar followed behind Cielo to the west tower. That was when Cielo suddenly said something like a bolt from the blue.

“From now on, it would be better if you don’t come to the west tower and go to the clinic instead.”

“……”

“I’ve thought about it. What would be more effective in your training. I think it would be more helpful for you to be at the clinic.”

In that moment, it felt like his heart had dropped to the floor.

Had he done something wrong again?

Trembling, Oscar thought back on everything that had happened recently.

Come to think of it, Cielo had gradually stopped giving him tasks. Things he used to order Oscar to do, he started doing himself. And when Oscar tried to take the initiative to do something, Cielo gently stopped him.

Could it be… was it because he wasn’t needed anymore?

With anxiety surging up, Oscar grabbed Cielo’s collar and asked,

“Master…”

“…?”

“Do you… not need me?”

His voice trembled thinly as he asked.

At Oscar’s sudden question, Cielo’s eyes widened.

Oscar, unable to suppress the rising emotions, couldn’t hold back the twitch of his lips and lowered his head.

“N-not needed… what do you mean?”

“B-but… hic… Master keeps… hic not asking me to do anything anymore… hic… waaah!”

Oscar stopped mid-sentence and lowered his head. Sniffling as he barely got the words out, he eventually couldn’t hold it in and burst into tears.

“No, what I meant was… rather than wasting time cleaning, I thought it’d be better for you to go to the clinic and learn more.”

As things were now, Oscar had probably learned nothing, being dragged around as Cielo pleased. So Cielo had said that, hoping Oscar would go to the clinic now and at least learn the rules of the Imperial Clinic from the people there.

And there was another concern.

That crown prince—Eli.

He was an Alpha, and both Cielo and Oscar were Omegas.

There was nothing good that could come from Oscar encountering someone who recklessly released pheromones wherever he went. That’s why he had told him to stay in the safer clinic rather than follow him to the west tower.

But he hadn’t expected this kind of reaction.

Cielo parted his lips and lowered himself to meet Oscar’s gaze.

Oscar kept his head down, unable to show his tear-streaked face, and covered his eyes with his arm.

“Please don’t leave me?”

“Hic… Please don’t abandon me… I-I was wrong…”

“That’s strange. From what I can see, you didn’t do anything wrong.”

“Hic… sniff…!”

“Do you think I would abandon a disciple who hasn’t done anything wrong?”

At Cielo’s question, Oscar couldn’t respond. He just shook his head again and again, his face still buried in his arm.

‘…Ah, he’s cute.’

You weren’t supposed to think someone crying was cute, but every word and action of the boy felt both pitiful and endearing.
