Becoming the Terminally-Ill Villain Who Torments His Disciples - Chapter 82.1
***
The next day.
It had been ten days since Cielo arrived at the Doberman estate, and only now was he able to get out of bed. He had fainted at first, and then fallen ill again soon after.
“I’ve been sick so often, I can’t even remember what it felt like to be healthy anymore.”
Murmuring to himself, Cielo walked down the corridor, glancing around.
Unlike the Esteban estate, which gave off an impression of being poorly maintained, the Doberman estate had a completely different atmosphere. Ornate swords and velvet banners bearing the family crest adorned various parts of the mansion. There were even grand chandeliers.
If one were to say, This is a noble’s estate, the Doberman estate would easily be the prime example—splendid and radiant, yet it also exuded discipline.
Cielo looked out the window at the knights passing by. Clad in the black uniforms symbolic of the Dobermans, the knights were walking in formation.
“So cool…”
Living up to their title as the Empire’s Sword, they seemed to maintain strict discipline at all times, even when no one was watching.
Watching their retreating backs, Cielo slowly followed, though not directly behind them, but along the inner corridor of the mansion. Before long, the knights disappeared from view.
‘Maybe if I ask Ryan to show me around later, he’ll take me.’
Truthfully, if his health hadn’t been so poor, Cielo would have wanted to learn swordsmanship. In a dangerous world where monsters could appear at any time, it would be good to have a way to protect himself.
Once everything is resolved…
He could start learning little by little then. Until now, even slight exertion had left him breathless and in pain, making it impossible to do anything properly.
Maybe once he was no longer treated as a sacrificial offering, he might be able to regain the health he remembered having in his past life as ‘Cielo’… maybe.
It was while he was quietly wandering the halls that he heard it.
“I told you it was out of the question!”
“And I’m asking why it’s out of the question!”
It was Ryan’s voice. Without realizing it, Cielo stopped walking and looked toward the door where the voices came from.
“How do you plan to inherit the Doberman family when you think so carelessly? Do you think marriage is just about you?”
The booming voice that followed was very similar to Ryan’s. But it was lower and carried more weight…
He must be talking with his father.
Surely, both Ryan and Damon were inside that room.
Cielo parted his lips slightly, then lowered his head. He knew he shouldn’t eavesdrop on someone else’s conversation. Yet for some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to walk away.
“I told you from the moment I put down the sword. I have no intention of inheriting the Doberman family.”
“Then what about an heir?”
At Damon’s question, Cielo’s hand trembled slightly.
An heir…
Since coming into this world, Cielo had thought of it as a wondrous and fascinating place.
A world where love between men wasn’t considered strange.
Of course, he hadn’t been completely unfazed. It was difficult to accept the fact that people could go into heat like animals.
‘Still…
I’ve never even considered having a child…’
But if Ryan truly wanted it, then after much thought, Cielo might eventually nod in agreement. If that was a condition for marriage, and if it meant being with Ryan, then he could accept it.
“For now, I just want to spend more time with the people I care about.”
Just as a faint smile began to form on Cielo’s lips, Damon’s voice came from inside the room.
“Is that Esteban child even healthy enough to bear an heir?”
At those words, it felt like Cielo’s heart sank into his stomach. But unaware of how Cielo felt, Damon’s voice continued on inside the room.
“He’s someone whose heart stopped once already. Wasn’t he completely out of his mind then, crying nonstop for an entire week?”
“What does that have to do with anything now?!”
“What if that Esteban child dies giving birth to your heir?”
“……”
“I understand how much you want to marry that child. But what parent could give their blessing to a path that might end with their own child in grief?”
At Damon’s words, Cielo clenched his fists.
