With a booming voice, everything around began to collapse.

The sunlight, once scorching like a midsummer blaze, vanished like a mirage.

All the vivid colors around began to be stained black. At that moment, the demon pulled out the sword that had been stabbed into Cielo’s abdomen.

In that instant, it felt like all strength drained from his body.

It was like sprinting at full speed until he was completely out of breath.

As Cielo hunched over, gasping unconsciously, the demon who had been watching him spoke.

“The contract that bound you and me is broken, as promised. But that doesn’t erase what Typhon has done.”

“……!”

“I hope you survive in spite of it.”

Leaving those words behind, the demon flicked Cielo’s forehead with a finger.

And in that moment—

His heart dropped as if waking from a nightmare.

Had he been unconscious ever since the wager with the demon?

Cielo found himself lying face-down on the ground.

Slowly lifting his body and surveying his surroundings, his distorted vision began to clear, allowing him to gradually see the scene around him.

The central hall, soaked with blood.

The twins lying motionless.

And beyond the mansion doors, the corpses of monsters in view.

“Ah…….”

Rising slowly, Cielo began scanning with his eyes for Oscar and Ryan.

But instead of the two, all he saw were piles of monster corpses and imperial knights collapsed among them.

‘Am I seeing illusions…?’

There’s no way the imperial family would have dispatched knights here.

Cielo gasped for breath and barely took a single step forward—only for his knees to give out beneath him, causing him to fall with a thud.

“You won’t be able to move so easily right now.”

As Cielo tried again to stand by force, the demon standing beside him spoke softly.

Was he planning to pull something again?

Turning to him, uneasy, Cielo heard the demon speak nonchalantly.

“This was a space created by a demon. Did you really think a human would come out of it unscathed?”

No matter what the demon said, Cielo clenched his teeth and forced himself up.

He had to go.

Even if his knees buckled and he was injured, he had to find Ryan and Oscar.

He needed to see with his own eyes that they were alive—only then would his heart be at ease.

“……Since you’re free from the contract now, let me tell you one thing. You can walk and run all you want and get yourself smashed up, I don’t care, but for a while, you’d better not use your healing ability.”

At that, Cielo finally turned to look at the demon.

As though there was no longer a reason to remain here, the demon’s form was beginning to blur, emitting a dark glow.

“You’ve barely survived—wouldn’t it be a waste if you died because you used your powers in a wrecked body?”

Shrugging, he waved his hand lightly as if he had nothing more to say.

But Cielo already knew the demon wasn’t lying.

His body felt heavy and sore all over, just like it did after using his ability.

“Well then, try your best to stay alive.”

A black wind swept through the mansion’s interior.

As it passed, Cielo’s hair fluttered—and the demon’s figure disappeared completely from sight.

Cielo, staring blankly at where he’d been, clenched his fist tightly.

He knew the demon had said something important.

But right now, what mattered more to Cielo was the whereabouts of Ryan and Oscar.

Biting down on his lip, Cielo staggered to the front of the mansion door.

“Oscar…….”

Where could he possibly be?

The thunder that had roared endlessly before he lost consciousness was now completely silent.

There was no trace of Ryan’s shouts as he coordinated with Oscar during battle either.

“Ryan…….”

Swallowing dryly, Cielo slowly scanned the surroundings.

But with so many monster corpses strewn about, it was hard to find a person.

“Oscar! Ryan!”

Raising his voice, Cielo called out their names.

Just then, he heard murmuring voices nearby.

Recognizing them as human voices, Cielo turned and hurried in that direction.

“Ryan!”

Peeking around the massive corpse of a monster, he called out—

And there stood…

“……Cielo?”

A man with ash-gray hair.

Cielo, eyes wide, stared at Eli, unable to hide the disappointment that had instinctively shown on his face.
