That night.

Cielo and Oscar lay in the same bed.

There was only one bed in the room that used to be shared by three people, and it was Cielo who had rejected Oscar’s offer to sleep on the sofa.

“To help regain your memory, wouldn’t it be better to replicate the same conditions as before? We used to fall asleep in the same bed.”

“Are you saying that two fully grown adult men used to sleep in one bed?”

At Oscar’s words, Cielo nodded slowly.

Perhaps no one had clearly explained what kind of relationship the two of them had, because Oscar seemed awkward in every situation where he was close to Cielo.

Naturally, this moment was no different.

The two, who had always been inseparable, now lay at opposite ends of the bed.

‘Is this really the right thing…’

If Oscar truly wanted to regain his memories, he would have asked around.

He had spent half his life with Cielo. That meant whatever story he heard, Cielo would surely be part of it.

Yet Oscar hadn’t shown much initiative in finding his lost memories.

“If it was something worth remembering, I wouldn’t have forgotten it.”

He would say things like that so thoughtlessly, as if they didn’t hurt.

He didn’t even remember that Cielo had been his Master.

Memories that were forgettable, so they were forgotten…

Cielo could still vividly remember everything since possessing this body.

Oscar calling his name and apologizing. The surprise in his eyes when Cielo first reached out to him. The way he broke down in tears, saying he wanted to become someone needed by Cielo.

He remembered every single moment they had spent together, from when that small boy had grown taller than him and become an adult.

Those aren’t memories you just forget.

He must have said it only because he no longer remembered, making it easy to speak so casually.

Cielo clenched his fist.

In the past, he would have only felt sorrow over Oscar’s memory loss.

But now, he understood that just being sad wouldn’t change anything.

“Oscar.”

“…Yes?”

“We used to sleep in the same bed, always close to each other.”

As if making a big decision, Cielo turned his body to face Oscar’s back. Oscar still had his back to him and showed no intention of turning around.

“I have no intention of asking you to act like you did in the past.”

“…”

“But if you don’t remember, and if you have no desire to remember… then at least give me time to distance myself from you.”

Cielo slowly moved toward Oscar, reached out, and wrapped his arm around his waist.

Then, he whispered the same words he used to say to him every night.

“…I love you. Today, too.”

The murmured words trembled especially faintly tonight.

His love hadn’t changed, but he feared Oscar’s heart, the one that used to accept that love, had grown cold.

Cielo bit down on the soft flesh inside his mouth and shut his eyes tightly.

And no answer came from Oscar’s lips.

In the days that followed, Cielo’s eyes never left Oscar.

But Oscar only quietly watched him and never said a word or revealed how he felt.

After losing his memory, Oscar spent more time in the training grounds than the clinic.

It was possible because the number of monsters had decreased, leading to fewer patients.

Still, seeing him like that made Cielo uncomfortable.

Even when there were no patients, he always stayed at the clinic…

Back when he used to avoid Oscar for the sake of keeping the story on its original track, it had been a relief.

But now that things were actually playing out that way, he felt uneasy and downhearted.

To make matters worse, Oscar had recently started getting along with the original novel’s male leads.

Though he grumbled every time their Alpha pheromones flared up, he still spent time with them every day…

“I’m jealous…”

He wanted to wedge himself between them, lock his fingers with Oscar’s, and boldly say he was borrowing Oscar for a bit as he took him away.
