The First Princess hadn’t presented the Divine Physician until long after the epidemic began, when countless people had already died in many places.

Of course, the Imperial Princess claimed it had taken so long to find a treatment… but Enoch found even that unsatisfactory. He had already witnessed the Divine Physician’s achievements at the Imperial Palace in the original story.

‘What if she deliberately revealed the Divine Physician late?’

He did not want to judge the First Princess, whom he hadn’t yet seen, so harshly. But he remained uneasy. Even so, she surely was not as wicked as the Crown Prince, who became a tyrant in 〈The Tyrant’s Hidden Blade〉…

Continuing the thought, Enoch suddenly pressed a hand to his head. Whenever he thought about the original story, his skull seemed to throb.

Despite what Zyla had said, he felt more strongly than ever that he had to keep the Crown Prince as far from her as possible.

Whether the Crown Prince became Emperor was of no concern to him. It was not a matter in which he had any right to interfere.

After sighing repeatedly, Enoch lowered his gaze again. The future worried him, but the present problem was more important. The troublesome object remained in his hand.

‘What in the world should I do with this?’

“Brother!”

Just then, he heard a familiar voice and footsteps.

Enoch’s face brightened at once as though it had never been troubled. He tossed the paper in his hand carelessly onto the table and easily lifted Zyla as she ran toward him.

Her laughter rang pleasantly beside his ear. Enoch raised Zyla high in his arms.

The child immediately burst into delighted giggles. Laughing innocently, Zyla reached toward the ceiling.

“Higher, Brother! Higher!”

“You’re already high enough.”

“No! It isn’t enough! Higher~! Ahaha!”

The louder Zyla laughed, the more strength Enoch put into his arms. Only when he felt he could go no farther did he finally lower her to the floor.

The little lady pouted as if she wanted to keep playing, but the instant she saw her brother rub his aching arms, she kneaded them with her small hands.

Finding her adorable, Enoch smiled fondly and sat in an armchair. His little lady brought over a small chair from nearby and pressed close beside him.

“You even know how to care for your brother. Our Zyla is all grown up. I suppose this brother no longer needs to look after you?”

At his teasing words, Zyla widened her eyes and shook her head vigorously.

“No! I’m not grown up yet. Look!”

With that, Zyla held out her hands and feet. Her delicate hands and feet were certainly still small. A smile touched Enoch’s lips at her proud insistence that she still needed care.

“Yes, yes. Our Zyla isn’t all grown up yet.”

“Right! So you’ll keep looking after me, Brother? Because I’m not grown up yet!”

“Naturally.”

Enoch nodded as he stroked Zyla’s small head. Smiling radiantly, Zyla even hummed in delight. Then she suddenly noticed the small paper on the table, and her eyes gleamed.

Zyla snatched up the paper and slowly read it. Enoch did not bother to stop her.

“To my dear Sir Enoch…? Hmm. …Ah! Aftereffects…?”

Enoch poured tea into a cup and silently waited until Zyla finished reading the letter.

After some time, Zyla finally struggled through the last sentence.

Seeing that his younger sister was breathing hard, Enoch handed her the teacup as though he had been waiting. Zyla tipped every last drop into her mouth.

“Drink slowly. You’ll upset your stomach.”

Then she wiped her mouth with her sleeve, looking exactly like Duke Laochenes. Naturally, that was also the habit the Duchess despised most in both father and daughter.

“Haa. I finally feel alive!”

“Then why did you rush through it so quickly?”

Zyla smiled sheepishly.

“Because there seemed to be so many words I didn’t know… Hehe, I’ll have to study hard from now on. More importantly, why did the First Princess send you a letter, Brother?”
