By Some Unbelievable Twist, I Became the Villainess’s Older Brother - Chapter 19.2
In the novel, the First Prince was the eldest son of the Emperor and the late First Empress. He had received the expectations of many from the moment of his birth, but tragically, an impairment in his leg prevented him from inheriting the throne.
Enoch briefly searched his memories of the First Prince from the novel. A sentence flashed through his mind.
…The First Prince’s leg impairment was acquired, not congenital. When he was young, he…
Yes. The First Prince’s impairment had been acquired. Many palace physicians tried every possible method to treat his leg, but all had failed.
Having thought that far, Enoch shook his head. It wasn’t important now.
‘More importantly… how in the world did the First Princess discover that I’m a transmigrator?’
After transmigrating and becoming ‘Enoch,’ he had never met the First Princess before that day. In the first place, Adelio had been the only imperial to visit Enoch during his seclusion.
She hadn’t even been especially close to the original Enoch. No matter how intelligent and extraordinary she was, she couldn’t possibly have found anything particularly suspicious about his present behavior.
Then how had she discovered his identity? He had denied it immediately, but Enoch instinctively realized that the First Princess did not believe him. It did not seem to have been an idle probe.
‘She’s certain that I’m a transmigrator.’
That ultimately returned him to the same question. If she truly was certain, then how? He couldn’t know when the First Princess learned it or by what means.
He couldn’t even know whether she summoned him merely to reveal that she knew he was a transmigrator or whether she had some other design.
Everything was full of questions. He couldn’t reach a proper answer.
Haa. Enoch sighed softly and lifted his head to the sky.
‘…Could someone be behind the First Princess?’
Had that person told her I was a transmigrator? Since the First Princess was called a Saintess, could it have been a god or something of that sort?
After staring blankly at the sky, Enoch quietly laughed.
The thought made it suddenly feel real again that this world was inside a novel. And that he was someone who had abruptly fallen into it.
Just then, the sound of horses’ hooves came from somewhere.
Enoch looked back. A carriage was approaching him. The one he had summoned for the return journey appeared finally to have arrived.
The carriage stopped before Enoch. He naturally stepped onto the footboard, stood before the door, and gave a small hollow laugh.
‘But even if that is true… what am I? I would be satisfied simply to change the bad ending awaiting me. There is no way I’m the same sort of transmigrator as that Tyrant.’
He did not possess any ability that remarkable in the first place. Enoch chuckled and pulled open the carriage door.
“―You appear to have enjoyed your conversation with the First Princess a great deal, Sir Enoch.”
At the sudden voice, Enoch’s body stiffened. Pressing his lips together, he tried to step back without answering.
But the footboard had already vanished before he knew it. Still gripping the carriage door, Enoch froze, unable either to move forward or retreat.
Adelio watched him silently, then spoke in a delighted voice.
“Aha. Are you so pleased to see me that the sight has startled you?”
Why had he not noticed someone inside sooner? How had he failed to realize it? Horrified, Enoch stiffly turned his head.
“―Ah!”
“Oh dear.”
At that moment, it happened quite literally in the blink of an eye.
A gloved hand shot from the shadows, seized Enoch by the collar, and hurled him straight into a corner of the carriage. He did not even have time to scream.
