In truth, Enoch had tried to resist. But the more he did, the more tightly Adelio restrained his body.

There was simply no way to escape, and Enoch exhaled in defeat. Though a knight himself, he could only endure it, unable to resist.

‘I’ve even been working hard on my strength training… It was all for nothing!’

Enoch felt like crying. The more he shoved and batted Adelio away, the closer the man clung to him, making him shudder involuntarily.

Despite his remarkably lithe build, Adelio had apparently trained hard in martial arts, for even his shoulder was quite solid.

As a result, Enoch’s chest and stomach, which kept striking Adelio’s shoulder, hurt considerably. Of course, what bothered him most were all the burning stares he had felt from the moment they stepped out of the carriage…

Mortified, Enoch covered his face with both hands as he dangled from Adelio’s shoulder.

“…I’ll go inside on my own, so could you please put me down first…?”

Enoch lowered his voice and pleaded. But Adelio merely snorted and shook his head.

“You’re far too good at running away. I can’t let down my guard.”

“I won’t run away.”

“Hm.”

“……”

“No, I still can’t trust you. You don’t trust me either. Isn’t that right?”

This man, honestly! Enoch was dumbfounded. How did he know even that?

Then again, Enoch had merely refrained from saying it aloud. After seeing his reaction, Adelio was bound to know.

But that was not Enoch’s fault. If the man had behaved in a trustworthy manner, Enoch would have trusted him long ago! He ground his teeth inwardly.

Then several people abruptly emerged from inside the townhouse.

Enoch spread the fingers covering his face slightly and checked who they were.

They were Haynes, commander of the White Hawks, and Leo, commander of the Black Lions. The two men wore formal uniforms in opposite colors, one white and one black, and today, as always, their expressions were opposites as well.

They immediately drew alongside Adelio and greeted him together.

“My lord.”

“My lord, you’re back early. But why are you carrying Sir Enoch over your shoulder?”

Leo stepped closer first, whistling as though he had stumbled upon a wonderfully entertaining sight. Going even further, he began circling Adelio, who waved him away and continued walking straight ahead.

Haynes, by contrast, followed Adelio as though wholly uninterested and never once looked at Enoch. Enoch glared coldly at Leo, who kept circling and grating on his nerves.

“My, Sir Enoch. Why are you glaring at me like that? I’m not the one carrying you over my shoulder.”

“…I’m glaring at you because you’re in front of me, Sir Leo. Would you please stop irritating me and disappear?”

“Hmm. That might be difficult. I happen to be our lord’s most loyal subordinate. Isn’t that right, Haynes?”

“Do not ask me. I have no desire to intrude on your conversation.”

“Tsk. Look who thinks he’s too good for us.”

Leo grumbled on and on at Haynes’s cold response. But Enoch was too disoriented by the sensation of blood steadily rushing to his head to care.

That was only natural when his head had been pointing downward all this time. Feeling his face grow steadily redder, he furiously cursed Adelio inwardly.

This damned man. This ridiculously strong brute. If I ever associate with you again after this, I’m not human. Truly!

Enoch gritted his teeth. He thought that nothing could ever torment him more than this moment.

Yes. If not for Adelio’s next action, he would certainly have remained convinced of that.

Smack!

“……!”

“Now, now, Sir Enoch. If you keep moving like that, you’ll fall. What if my grip slips and I drop you? You could be hurt. Would that be alright?”
