First off, the biggest issue was that he kept getting entangled with Cha Jeongwon.

Of course, yesterday was simply a case of him getting drunk and clinging to Cha Jeongwon. If he wrapped it up as just that, it would be comfortable, but his head wouldn’t feel refreshed in the slightest.

‘Suite room, confession, drunk truth, pheromones…’

Words came to mind one after another before eventually stopping at one particular scene.

That item he had remembered right before leaving Cha Jeongwon’s house.

“I’m busy organizing my own life right now as it is.”

Pulling the duvet up to his chin, a long sigh leaked out.

If he was drawn into Cha Jeongwon’s house by his misfortune, it was actually best to avoid getting involved with him as much as possible.

Even though there was one year left until graduation, he needed to prepare his graduation project well in advance. Since he had to meet with his professor right away and the graduation project committee would be formed, he was scheduled to get busy soon.

Was that all? On the pretext of avoiding Cha Jeongwon, unplanned expenses had arisen. So he was in a position where he had to pour a few hours into a part-time job even during the semester.

“All those part-time job spots near the university must be taken by now.”

He shouldn’t have quit the one he was doing during the break.

On top of that, yesterday there was Cha Seojun too.

“Agh…”

One might think it was no big deal, but he had ended up showing an absurd sight while drunk. He had brought utter humiliation upon himself right in front of a kid who used to be his student.

“I should at least make a phone call.”

He pulled his arm out from under the duvet, fumbled to grab his phone, and hesitated for a moment.

Is it an annoyance if I call now, or would this timing actually be better?

At any rate, if he kept procrastinating, it was obvious he would miss the timing to contact him again.

He pressed the call button and brought the device to his ear.

After a few ringtones, a bright voice was heard.

[Teacher?]

It was a tone mixed with a somewhat cautious air alongside a familiar title.

“Oh, Seojun-ah.”

Ha-on cleared his throat for no reason.

“Yesterday… you got home safely, right?”

[Yes. I was more worried about you than myself, Teacher. Since you seemed very drunk yesterday.]

When the other party brought up the worry first, a wave of awkward embarrassment rushed up.

“You said ‘Senior’ so well yesterday, though.”

[I hoped you would recognize me. You knew after all.]

Because yesterday’s memories were cut off in places, the parts filled in by his imagination were even more embarrassing.

“Besides, when did you ever call me ‘Teacher’ like that? Call me comfortably like before.”

When he mentioned it as he remembered Cha Seojun calling him hyung when he quit the academy, a quick answer came back.

[On-i hyung.]

Though he didn’t know the reason why he insisted on calling him by only the last letter of his name.

“Thanks for helping me yesterday.”

Ha-on forced a voice mixed with laughter.

[Aww, it’s only natural. It’s enough as long as you return home safely thanks to me, hyung.]

A small laugh was attached to the end of Cha Seojun’s words. It felt as though his expression with the corners of his eyes raised could be imagined even over the phone.

Feeling his ears turn hot for no reason, Ha-on quickly brought out his next words.

“So speaking of which, what are you doing today? If you’re okay with it, come out. I’ll buy you a meal.”

It happened to be the weekend too. At Ha-on’s suggestion, Cha Seojun attacked himself delightedly.

[Sounds great. I wanted to talk with you too, hyung.]

At those words, his heart felt a bit lighter.

[Let’s go eat something delicious.]

Ha-on lay completely down on the bed and pulled the duvet up to the tip of his chin. Then, when he placed the phone to his ear, it didn’t slip even without holding it with his hand.

Nice posture. Ha-on, whose face had relaxed considerably, muttered in a drawn-out voice.

“Didn’t we eat instant tteokbokki often?”

Memories of stirring and eating cheese topped on spicy broth came back vividly. It was a menu that touched both nostalgia and appetite at the same time.

A brief silence flowed. He could feel the sound of breathing on the other end of the phone pause ever so minutely before continuing again.

[I love that.]

Cha Seojun soon chimed in with a soft tone. At the reaction of purely welcoming it, Ha-on’s mood brightened up as well.

“I wonder if the owner there is still around.”

Ha-on muttered like talking to himself.

“Then let’s meet there. I’ll tell Hyeongyu.”

[Hyeongyu… hyung is coming too?]

Since a slightly awkward voice came from Cha Seojun, Ha-on couldn’t just let it slide past either.

“You called me Teacher and Senior, but you called Hyeongyu hyung right away?”

When he pointed that out directly, this time the silence grew a little longer.

“Seojun-ah?”

[…Still, I’m closer with On-i hyung.]

And then he softly added “Ha-on-i hyung,” making his fingers feel ticklish for some reason.

What’s the big deal about the word ‘hyung’?

“Then see you later. What time should we meet?”
