Although it was an excuse at first, there were certainly many things worth looking at.

He tilted his head as if examining the angles, and slid his hand in and out of the shadows formed beneath the lighting. But in the end, he returned to the props.

“Senior, this is pretty, isn’t it?”

Inside a dome made of milky white glass, there was a mood lamp with warm light softly spreading out.

“It seems like it would be nice to place this in a room…”

Ha-on could not continue his next words. It was quite difficult to say that Cha Jeongwon’s room was very dark.

“What’s this?”

So Ha-on shifted his interest from the mood lamp to another item.

It was a small ceramic object.

It looked like a rolled-up piece of paper, or like a half-melted staircase.

In addition, with a deep groove carved on top, if you stick a flower in it, it could be used as a vase, and if you put a pen in, it could be used as a pen holder. An object with both decoration and practicality.

“It’s pretty.”

At the same time he reached out his hand, another hand came out.

Click.

On top of the back of Ha-on’s hand, which was trying to grab the object, the back of Cha Jeongwon’s hand overlapped slightly.

A nearby mood lamp flickered. Certain mood lamps changed color even though they hadn’t been touched.

Although they could have pulled their hands away right away, both of them paused for a moment.

During that brief moment, each other’s body temperature was clearly felt.

Even though it was a much more trivial contact than the kiss, his heart thudded once more for no reason.

“…Look at it first.”

Just as Ha-on was about to withdraw his hand, the clerk’s voice came from the counter.

“Customer, that’s the very last one left today.”

The two turned their heads at the same time.

“Originally it was sold out long ago, but it was just canceled, and you happened to pick that exact one.”

The clerk laughed.

“Originally, it was only sold as a set, but since it’s the last one, I can give it as a single item today. On top of that, it’s time for sale right now, so I can give it to you a bit cheaper.”

“Time sale…”

As Ha-on muttered, the clerk nodded her head.

“Your timing is really great.”

It’s this time again…

The phone call inside the elevator.

The dart earlier.

And now the single remaining object.

Inside his head, the sound of puzzle pieces locking together once more could be heard.

“This is the most popular item in our prop shop.”

The clerk spoke again.

“This texture and shape are unique, but it’s also a symbol of good luck.”

Ha-on looked into the ceramic object again.

A curve that was smooth yet rough, it was a shape that felt like he would keep looking if he placed it on a corner of his studio desk.

“Senior, how about it? Isn’t today’s luck on the decent side for this much?”

“If you have a lot of interest in this item and want to have it, it could be so.”

Cha Jeongwon acted as if he didn’t have much interest. Even while doing so, he checked the price tag once more and pulled out a card first.

“I’ll pay.”

“Didn’t you dislike it? Could it be…”

“I’m not buying it to give it to you. I should take what I paid my own money for.”

My money, my purchase.

“Still, this was something I was deliberating over.”

While Ha-on acted as if feeling regretful, Cha Jeongwon took the object away. Ha-on reached out his hand as if to stop him, but it ended up looking like he merely grazed the back of Cha Jeongwon’s hand.

“Oh my.”

The clerk waiting to take the payment suddenly put down her phone with a surprised face and spoke with a smile.

“The owner contacted me telling me not to accept payment. To be honest, it had to be sold as a set, but since there was only one left.”

Thanks to the sale, it was practically half-price, but just now it became free.

Stepping outside the store, the night air blew in heavily.

I thought it was only the hotel side events, but here too at this timing…

It really didn’t seem to be a mere coincidence.

“Senior, let’s go somewhere with me.”

Ha-on stepped forward one step ahead.

At that moment, Cha Jeongwon took Ha-on’s hand. It wasn’t his arm or wrist, but his fingers that were grabbed.

“Senior?”

The moment he called Cha Jeongwon, strength entered Cha Jeongwon’s hand holding Ha-on. It was a feeling as if Ha-on might run away if he gave even a tiny gap.

“Me first.”

It seemed Cha Jeongwon also had something to say.

***

Cha Jeongwon dragged Ha-on to a place where people were scarce.

Just at that time, there was no one near the parking lot. Only then did Cha Jeongwon let go of Ha-on’s hand. Even after he let go, Ha-on felt as if his fingertips were hot.

In an instant, Cha Jeongwon’s distinct pheromones spread out. Because it was an enclosed space, the faint scent spread out more clearly.

Cha Jeongwon also had an expression showing he was trying to suppress it as if surprised. Yet it was still thick.

The one who wanted to run away seemed to be Cha Jeongwon, not Ha-on.
