With the sensation of the kiss remaining on his cheek and the moment their backs of hands overlapped at the prop shop all mixing together, it felt like too many things had overlapped in a short span of time.

Such a Cha Jeongwon spoke in a cold voice.

“Don’t express it.”

That was the first thing he said after dragging him all the way here.

Saying it outright without head or tail was typical of Cha Jeongwon.

“…Pardon?”

Ha-on asked back reflexively, but Cha Jeongwon did not avoid Ha-on’s eyes either. He merely continued his words as if it were natural.

“Stop it.”

For a moment, he almost laughed it off.

However, he couldn’t grasp what on earth he was telling him to stop. What should I not express, and what should I stop?

“Whatever you say, I won’t accept it anyway, so fold your feelings in advance.”

Cutting it clean as if slicing with a knife, he cut it off sharply.

“I have no intention of accepting your feelings anyway.”

A man who usually spoke frustratingly short was speaking at length again at a time like this. Was that why? Each and every one of his words felt like it was stabbing deep into him.

Ah, so this is a real rejection.

It was nothing new at this point. However, hearing it directly through words felt different when it hit him.

“You just live the way you have so far and graduate. That’s enough.”

At those words, strength seemed to drain slightly from his legs.

Graduating means it’s over.

It was a short sentence like a formula. In addition, it was also a resolve he himself had made when he realized who Cha Jeongwon was.

It felt as if his own thoughts, which he had never spoken to him, were being read. He was saying that they shouldn’t get entangled any further, and that there was no mutual interest  in their futures.

I was planning to do that too.

Ever since deciding his career path in art during middle school, part-time jobs were a matter of course like breathing to Ha-on, and frugality was a creed. It felt like he had to act fiercely to hold a paintbrush for the rest of his life.

He couldn’t follow that dream just because he met Cha Jeongwon.

However, unlike inside his head, his heart was beating busily.

“Who is that for?”

Ha-on rebelled against Cha Jeongwon.

“Me.”

Cha Jeongwon had no sign of hesitation.

“Nothing good comes from getting entangled with me. Did you say earlier that we would run into each other often? Try to dodge that well on your own, too.”

At the end of those words, Cha Jeongwon’s pheromones shook once more.

Words and scent seemed to point in completely opposite directions.

“Unless you intend to roll along next to me, I’m telling you to go back.”

Cha Jeongwon truly believed that was the answer. Thinking that this would become comfortable later, that not crossing this line was for each other’s sake.

“Senior.”

For the first time, Cha Jeongwon avoided Ha-on’s gaze.

“You definitely said so. That you have no feelings for me.”

Even so, he went and kissed him, though.

“So that I don’t suspect you any longer, let’s cut it off right here.”

Rather than being flustered, he seemed like a person trying hard to push him away.

He tried to draw a line with Ha-on somehow.

His voice was cold, but his pheromones were not. As his words grew harsher, his expression was gradually turning paler.

Cha Jeongwon neither avoided his gaze nor held onto it. He just stood like a person holding out firmly in place. That attitude was rather more distant.

Ha-on unconsciously took a breath in and then let it out again. He felt his mouth drying up in an instant. From somewhere, he felt like he could hear a sound like a clock’s second hand ticking, and the sound of cars passing outside the window laid low heavily.

Cha Jeongwon’s complexion had turned even lighter. It wasn’t that he lacked emotion, but as if he had tightly clamped and blocked his emotions, nothing leaked out.

Ha-on felt pity for that man.

To the man who only threw words attacking himself, Ha-on wanted to share warmth with him.

He wanted to give him even a surprise kiss once more.

No, wait, if he keeps shoving his lips, it’s a crime.

If he’s going to do it, he should do it legally, legally.

“Shall we date?”

At that single phrase, the heavy atmosphere changed in a single breath.

A bowling ball falling terrifically toward the floor turning out to be a bouncy ball, bouncing right back up, it was that kind of plot twist.

Cha Jeongwon furrowed his brows.

“Where did you listen to what I’ve said up until now?”

“I listened with my ears.”

At Ha-on’s refreshing answer, Cha Jeongwon merely stared quietly. Normally, in a situation like this, it would be understandable to let out a dry laugh, but Cha Jeongwon did not do so.

“Let’s try dating for just one week.”
