The elevator doors closed slowly.
Right after, the numbers going down were displayed. From 5 to 1.
The machine moved smoothly as if nothing had happened.
“It goes down just fine.”
Haon burst out with a dry laugh. The sweat he broke and the breath he gasped while climbing the stairs a moment ago felt futile in an instant.
“Seriously, what is wrong with me today?”
“It must be an unlucky day. Hurry up and come eat. When you’re hurt, meat is definitely the way to go.”
At the words Kim Hyeongyu tossed out casually, Haon recalled a certain person’s face.
When the statue collapsed toward that guy Cha Jeongwon, Haon thought once again that he was truly an unfortunate person.
While he himself merely had a rough day today, Cha Jeongwon probably went through this every day.
“He’s a bit pitiable…”

All throughout the ride back home in the taxi after leaving the hospital, Cha Jeongwon stroked his wrist.
Because it was wrapped in a bandage, he could not bend his wrist, and a faint pain welled up.
For him, someone who experienced accidents constantly and got injured frequently, this level of pain was tolerable.
Rather, considering that he rolled down the stairs and had a statue fall over his head, ending up with just this amount of injury was a relief. However…
“Isn’t rolling twice a bit excessive?”
And with the same person, no less.
The words he muttered under his breath seemed to bounce back off the taxi window.
Once on the stairs, and once in the lobby.
At this point, calling it a coincidence was embarrassing. His life was originally one where he broke people or things whenever he did anything, but he had never dragged a single person into it twice in a row.
‘Maybe he got caught twice because he didn’t have time to dodge.’
The words that had burst out from him unconsciously in the hospital lobby came back to mind.
‘Are you the one? The Omega charm that came to accost me this year?’
The profiles in the documents his mother offered flashed through his mind. Among people who picked through bloodlines, academic backgrounds, traits, and whether the combination matched well, Omegas were always treated as safety devices.
A charm to ward off misfortune.
That was why he doubted the very existence of that junior who introduced himself as Yoon Haon. The sweet pheromones wafting from him were so provocative that it was impossible not to know he was an Omega.
No matter how much he was ordered by Cha Jeongwon’s mother, joining in on such a dangerous act… He was angrier than he had been at any Omega before.
That was why he thought he had turned him away more harshly than usual. Yet Yoon Haon acted unpredictably, like a ball bouncing right back up.
On top of that, the words he tossed out without any ulterior motive struck Cha Jeongwon’s heart.
“You say you’re lucky?”
When the taxi stopped at a traffic light, Cha Jeongwon looked at his face reflected in the window. His face reflected in the glass was steeped in chronic fatigue.
‘If I’m lucky, I won’t run into him again.’
Even so, he felt like if he went to school tomorrow, he would run into him somewhere again.
He could not shake that feeling.
Whether that was because of his own jinx, because of a charm, or because the warmth of the body that came into his arms twice, once on the stairs and once in the lobby remained on his fingertips, he could not reach a conclusion in the end.

“Ugh!”
Haon screamed while stretching as he saw the morning sunlight. Rolling around yesterday seemed to have given him muscle aches.
Right on cue, Kim Hyeongyu came out of the room and called out upon seeing him.
“Looks like you’re well enough to live. Do you even know what’s going to happen when you go to school today? Huh?”
Haon tilted his head side to side and replied indifferently.
“They’ll probably laugh their heads off asking if I had a nice trip to the emergency room. Whatever.”
“You know it well. Everyone everywhere was talking about you. Thanks to that, I thought my ears were going to fall off.”
Kim Hyeongyu picked at his ear.
Haon pulled his body back, looking at him with a disgusted expression.
“Then you just shouldn’t listen. Why are you listening to all of it?”
“I can’t do that.”
Kim Hyeongyu pulled his lips up into a smirk. He looked even uglier when he smiled. Haon scowled even harder.
“Please don’t smile like that. How is it that even after ten years, I still can’t get used to that smile?”
The tiresome bond that began in middle school kept the two stuck together through college under the name of best friends. At Haon’s disgusted words, Kim Hyeongyu leaned his body over, resting an arm on his shoulder.
“If it’s just about you, I’d ignore it, but if Senior Jeongwon gets mentioned together with you, that changes the story.”
