The Young Master of the house, his face still twisted in anger, suddenly noticed me and stared in shock.

“What the—where’d you bring a girl like that from?”

At the same time, Hyacine saw me and, as if he couldn’t believe it, his mouth fell open.

“Lippey…?”

Instead of acknowledging him, I pulled out my favorite leather gloves from my pocket and put them on tightly. I also didn’t forget to crack and swallow a small pill—a staple item every Guide carries.

No sooner had the bitter pill gone down my throat than mana surged through me. Even if I’m a Guide, I’m still a cadet at the academy. There’s no way I wouldn’t have at least some combat ability to protect myself.

A Guide can only stabilize a Transcendent’s mana, not possess it themselves.

‘But if you use a loophole like this, you can temporarily wield refined Transcendent mana in pill form.’

Still though.

‘Wow, causing trouble just one day into my leave. This is actually pretty exhilarating.’

Ignoring the burning red of the control stone on my wrist, I gathered my mana.

“Let’s count this as a free pass since I’m trying to get rid of some trauma. I’ll probably have to write a report, though.”

It had been a long time since I wielded mana directly instead of for guiding. Still, it might be better to get used to it while getting some payback, rather than using it on the frontlines without knowing anything.

As the mana inside me took shape outside, crackling currents flickered with a pale light somewhere between gold and blue, visible to the naked eye.

The Young Master, sensing the mana about to strike him at any moment, faltered and shrank back.

No wonder. Anyone would be scared if a stranger suddenly appeared and acted threatening. Unfortunately, he seemed to have no sense at all, since he grabbed Hyacine, who was barely standing, and dragged him in front of him to use as a shield.

“W-What’s going on? Why is a Transcendent suddenly doing this?!”

He was trying to make sure nothing bad happened to him. Thanks to that, I ended up locking eyes with Hyacine, who had been forcibly pulled in front of me.

He grit his teeth and, maybe because he was embarrassed to see me while in such a state, turned his head away.

If it were me, I’d want to bite my tongue rather than face my only family like that. Still, understanding his feelings and letting this go are two different things.

I raised my hand and lightly brushed his rough hair, then walked right past Hyacine.

“First of all, I’m not a Transcendent.”

My suddenly surging feelings were fully reflected in my mana.

A harsh bolt of electricity escaped my control, leaving a scorch mark on the ground. It only lasted a moment, but the blackened mark was clear. The Young Master, who had been trying to figure out my relationship with Hyacine, flinched in shock.

“And as for why I’m doing this—”

Striding forward, I stopped right in front of him.

“It’s because I saw you kicking my baby brother around like he’s nothing.”

The face that had just been delighting in violence as if he were beating a slave went utterly white with fear. It was almost satisfying to see.

It would have been better for him to just fall to his knees and beg for forgiveness.

But, terrified, he chose to run instead of apologize.

“A-Aaaargh!”

As he screamed and tried to bolt, I snapped my whip, and his legs were swept out from under him, slamming him face-first into the ground.

I can’t let this slide anymore. With a hardened expression, I unleashed my mana again—another flash of lightning streaked out.

“Aaagh!”

“Lippey!”

Frightened by the scene, Hyacine ran over and clung to me.

“Are, are you out of your mind? Th-this person is…!”

“I know. Who he is.”

“Then why…!”

I looked back at Hyacine and shot the question right back at him.

“Why do you think?”

It’s not like that level of current will kill him. I made a lot of noise on purpose. All it would do is leave him a little sore.

I’d even adjusted the flow of mana so that it wouldn’t affect any vital organs like his heart or brain.

But Hyacine, not knowing that, seemed convinced I’d actually kill someone and was in a panic.

Was it that my gaze toward the Young Master was too cold as I looked down at him?

“Li-Lippey! Stop… please stop…!”
