Without realizing it, I opened my mouth and stared blankly at the status window. The contents aside, the names and settings looked so familiar that it was absurd.

I had just started to gain recognition as a rookie actor. And the details the status window was spouting were clearly about the character from the drama I had recently been offered a role in.

The drama was a large-scale project spearheaded by the global streaming service NFlux. Since it was a fantasy genre, astronomical funding had been invested, and actors of various nationalities were being cast from all over the world.

It was a great opportunity, but the fact that it was not an ordinary fantasy and instead belonged to the BL genre made me hesitant.

I had seen many rookie actors rise to fame through BL dramas. But as someone who knew nothing about the genre, I wasn’t confident I could pull it off.

So I read the original work.

The source novel, Chronicles of the Sword, turned out to be more entertaining and spectacular than I had expected. On top of that, the role I had been offered was a significant and attractive supporting character—the uncle of the main protagonist, Crown Prince Constantine, and the Third Grand Duke of Hezekia, Tristan.

He was the man who raised the protagonist until he came of age. Because of that, in the early parts of the novel, when Constantine was still a child, he was practically a main character himself.

Right. I had definitely been cast as Tristan. And not long after that, I got into a car accident. So why on earth did I end up falling into some strange world with this ridiculous System?

Even before reading Chronicles of the Sword, I had read my fair share of web novels. They weren’t BL, but I had often seen similar scenes in various fantasy stories I’d read before.

Usually, it was when the protagonist “possessed” a character from within a novel or from the past. If I connected that to what this System was saying now…

Did I just “possess” a character inside Chronicles of the Sword?

No, but still…

“Why Ruellin, of all people?”

The cry escaped me before I could stop it. Possession itself was ridiculous, but if I were going to be possessed, wouldn’t it make more sense to become Tristan? That was the role I had been cast for, so why on earth did I suddenly become his consort instead?

And not just any consort, but one with tags like #VillainousSupportingRole #TrashyWater #GrislyDeathEnding hanging all over him?

What’s worse, the System’s explanation didn’t stop there.

While harboring feelings for Everett, you have been spying on your husband. Yet no matter how tirelessly you act as his informant, Everett has absolutely no interest in you.

In the end, all that awaits you is a grisly death at your husband’s hands. How unfortunate…

“…”

Ruellin’s grisly death ending.

I remembered it too, since I had read the original.

The Grand Duke of Hezekia had not been unaware that Ruellin was a spy. But to feed his impoverished territory, he accepted Ruellin in exchange for a huge dowry from Viscount Elsworth.

So, if Ruellin had simply behaved himself, the Grand Duke would likely have turned a blind eye. But Ruellin was far from well-behaved. That was the problem.

After committing every possible misdeed, Ruellin eventually pushed even the patient Grand Duke beyond his limit and was sentenced to execution. In the end.

Thanks to that, I was about to get my head chopped off right after “possessing” this body!

‘If I die here, will I return to my original world?’

The thought flashed through my mind, but I shook my head quickly. Even if I went back, it would still be a grisly ending. In that world, I’d already been hit by a car and left as a cold corpse. It was better to figure out how to escape this world’s “grisly death ending” instead.

The problem was, I had no idea how.

Should I try to get a safe divorce and flee the territory? But no matter the era, there was always one thing essential for survival—money!

‘Do I even have any money?’

‘Probably not…’

Viscount Elsworth wasn’t my biological father, just my adoptive one, and I highly doubted he would have given Ruellin a generous amount of personal funds when sending him off to marry.

That’s an accurate assumption!

A violent and foul-tempered scoundrel would never have been loved by his adoptive father, right? You are completely financially dependent on Viscount Elsworth—in other words, you’re penniless♡
