The only way to survive is to rise through your own ability. Let’s do our best together. Fighting!♡

“……”

The ever-so-kind (!) System offered an explanation that did not even exist in the original story.

So, in other words, the only choice was to escape with nothing but my bare body. And then, instead of being beheaded, I would meet an ending where I starved to death. My eyes stung as tears threatened to form. What on earth was I supposed to do?

Maybe I should hide some money first… and then try to get a safe divorce afterward…

I was clutching my head in despair as my thoughts grew tangled when the sound of the bedroom door creaking open reached my ears. I instinctively lifted my head, and my gaze met that of the man standing in the doorway.

The moment I saw him, I understood immediately. This was Hezekia’s Grand Duke, my husband, the very role I had been forced into.

In other words, the man who would one day become my executioner had arrived.

“You’re awake, I see.”

The man’s voice was deep and resonant, as if echoing from the depths of a cave.

Eyes as blue as the midwinter sea looked straight at me. Beneath the cold gaze were a sharp nose and finely shaped lips. The elegant line of his jaw carried a cool, refreshing sharpness.

Tristan looked as if he had been carved from marble with great care—splendid and noble.

It should have been him!

I fumed in frustration. To think I had ended up in the weak, sickly body of a frail villain instead of someone like that. It felt like falling backward and breaking my nose.

But Tristan’s greatness was not limited to his appearance.

[Would you like to view the Grand Duke’s status window?]

Y/N

‘Yes. Yes, of course.’

As soon as I muttered internally, the System displayed Tristan’s status window, and the results were astonishing.

Name: Tristan von Hezekia (27 years old)

Title: Third Grand Duke of Hezekia, an autonomous territory of the Rubyere Empire

Aliases: “Shield of the North,” “Ice Duke,” “Pirate Slayer”

Stats

Stamina 91 (Potential: Infinite)

Agility 102 (Potential: Infinite)

Strength 97 (Potential: Infinite)

Intelligence 69

Charm 75 (Potential: Infinite)

Infamy 0

……

An overly exceptional husband for someone like you. Happiness comes when people meet their equals, after all!

And don’t even think about clinging to that trash Everett. You’ll only hasten your beheading ending~

“……”

I didn’t even bother to look at his traits or keywords. As the System’s mocking tone implied, he was far too extraordinary a match.

His stamina, agility, and strength were all incredible. I hadn’t even known it was possible for stats to exceed 100. Most of mine were single digits…

Even my highest stat, intelligence, was lower than Tristan’s. The only thing higher than his was my infamy—and that was very high indeed.

‘What does “potential: infinite” even mean? I didn’t get any mention of potential.’

Because you have no potential!

I tried to suppress the bitterness welling inside me and ignored the System.

Then I bowed my head toward Tristan.

“Yes… Your Grace. Did you, um, sleep well?”

Was that how I was supposed to say it?

The archaic speech felt awkward, and I hesitated slightly as I answered cautiously. A faint look of puzzlement appeared on the man’s picture-perfect face framed by neatly brushed black hair.

“It seems you’re in a good mood today.”

“Pardon? Well, yes, I suppose so.”

After all, I had been dragged into some ridiculous world and turned into a villainous side character. It was an absurd situation. But as far as the real Ruellin del Elsworth—the Grand Consort—was concerned, he had simply woken up from a good night’s rest in a soft bed. There was no reason to be in a bad mood.

However, Tristan seemed to think otherwise. His well-shaped lips curved in a cold smirk as he spoke sharply.

“How strange to see you not acting up first thing in the morning. Did you have a pleasant dream? Perhaps Prince Everett appeared in it?”

“Excuse me…?”

I had been trying to respond politely while admiring his handsome face, yet he picked a fight. What did Everett have to do with anything?

Maybe the real Ruellin was madly in love with him, but as for me, I hadn’t even seen his face. In fact, Everett was one of the villains most responsible for Ruellin’s brutal death.
