Anyway, even without following the system’s order to “act cute,” sincerity would eventually get through.

“Getting worse by the minute. Did Viscount Elsworth tell you to do that?”

It did not get through at all.

For a brief moment, Tristan seemed surprised, but his expression soon turned even colder. His voice sharpened as if cutting through the air.

“You say there’s no need for correspondence. Are you implying you can take over the castle without the Viscount’s command?”

“That’s not what I meant…”

It was clear he had decided to twist my words from the start. I opened my mouth, frustrated, but he wasn’t even trying to listen.

“You are the Grand Consort of Hezekia. It would not be unreasonable to think that once you bear an heir, you could oust me and serve as regent for that child. Am I wrong?”

Out of nowhere, Tristan said something outrageous. Bear an heir? Give birth? Me?

“W-what do you mean, an heir?”

What on earth was he saying? I’m a man! Even if this is a BL world, men can get pregnant?

But then I remembered the original story. It had mentioned words like alpha… and omega. I didn’t care to understand them at the time, so I just skimmed over them, but now that I think about it, that must have been what it meant…

Anyway, I was in no way mentally prepared for pregnancy.

Then again, after collecting my thoughts, I realized that was a concern for a very distant future. Whether or not I was ready to have a child didn’t matter. More importantly, I probably wouldn’t even live that long.

I was already one wrong move away from losing my head. How was I supposed to make the Grand Duke’s heir like this? His imagination truly knew no bounds.

“What heir…”

I looked up at Tristan, dumbfounded. But he was already charging ahead on his own train of thought.

“I wondered why you were being so compliant today. But you have overlooked one thing.”

Tristan bent slightly, meeting my gaze. His icy blue eyes, like a frozen winter lake, pierced straight through me. His red lips twisted as if mocking me.

“Even if you try to get along with me by force, are you even capable of conceiving?”

The way he looked at me carried both contempt and disgust.

“A defective omega like you.”

At that final remark, my eyebrow twitched. Omega, sure, but what did he mean by defective omega? His tone, his expression—he was definitely insulting me.

Anger bubbled inside me, and my fists clenched.

[♨Warning, Warning!♨ The system is sending a warning.]

Tristan’s affection level is decreasing.

Grand Duke Tristan – Current Affection Level: -15

☆ Bad Ending ☆ Event in Progress.

Progress: 15/100

Still, I forced myself to endure, gripping my trembling fist tighter. If I lost my temper, Tristan might order my execution right this instant. Even if I had to die, I didn’t want to die like this. No, I didn’t want to die at all.

“I-I’m s-sorry…”

“Enough with the pretenses. You are unusually meek today. It would suit you better to behave like the insolent person you usually are.”

“…Forgive me…”

Did I really have to grovel this much? Honestly, I didn’t even want a man as my spouse.

Grand Duke Tristan – Current Affection Level: -20

You are charging straight toward a Bad Ending! The minimum affection level of -100 is right around the corner.

But no ordeal is insurmountable. Increase his affection level—right now!

I had to cling on. Like a rain-soaked leaf, I needed to stick to him and never let go.

‘How is -20 anywhere near -100?’

I quietly vented my frustration at the system’s nonsense and then looked at Tristan intently.

‘Act cute… it said to act cute…’

How does one even do that? After much hesitation, I barely managed to open my mouth.

“Your Grace… I mean, um, Lord Tristan… everything until now was my fault. Please forget it all and… treat me with… with favor… I swear to devote my entire being in loyalty…”

That didn’t sound like acting cute at all. It sounded more like a tragic vow of allegiance. My voice trembled and cracked pitifully. The system immediately cut in.

[♨Warning, Warning!♨ That is not acting cute! That is not acting cute!]
