Hope and anticipation began to appear on the faces of the knights as well as the sailors. The end of the long voyage, which had nearly circled half of the ocean, was approaching. Excitement was inevitable.

However, life rarely goes exactly as planned.

“By now, the Eastern Continent should be in sight, should it not……?”

By the time the third week had fully passed, the coastline still did not appear, and even I was beginning to feel anxious.

Tristan, standing in front of the table and examining the map carefully, lifted his head. Faint vertical lines had formed on his otherwise neat brow.

“Seems there was a slight miscalculation.”

“Excuse me? Is there an error on the map?”

“No, it looks like the survey was incorrect. We have veered slightly from the expected route.”

The chief navigator beside Tristan repeatedly calculated with a worried expression. The dark circles under his eyes showed that he had not slept properly for several days.

Tristan patted his shoulder reassuringly and spoke.

“It is not a serious situation. We just need to turn the bow. It would be best to start heading north now.”

“North……?”

Why suddenly go there? I asked in confusion. Tristan straightened his back. His glance, as he turned to look at me, showed no hesitation. In a low voice, he spoke quietly.

“Because we went too far south, it seems we missed the land. Heading north should bring us not to the western coast of the Eastern Continent, but directly to the southern central region.”

“Ah…….”

This meant we could reach the Sarr Empire’s capital, Ashurana, directly without following the coastline. If there were no miscalculations, we could arrive within a timeframe not much different from the original schedule. The chief navigator intervened urgently.

“Yes, this time it is certain. There will be no problem, Your Grand Consort.”

“Understood. I will trust you.”

“Yes, yes. Thank you.”

The chief navigator quickly bowed his head.

The fleet set a northward course. As we continued sailing, tense and anxious, watching only the sea, the afternoon remained as calm and peaceful as usual. Yet somehow, an uneasy feeling seemed to hang over the deck. I looked around, puzzled, but saw no visible cause.

Only……

“Lately, my teeth have been aching.”

“I told you to stop eating so much. Well, we will arrive in Ashurana soon, so why not visit a doctor?”

“Why bother with a doctor for a little pain? I just need to rinse my mouth with some saltwater.”

Minor toothaches were a common part of sailors’ lives. Even so, the conversation between these two older sailors struck my ears in an unusual way.

It was not just that. Perhaps it was my imagination, but the expressions on the people’s faces did not look good. However, we had been at sea for dozens of days since leaving Hezekia. If they were well, it would be stranger, so there seemed to be nothing to worry about.

Still, I could not shake the unsettling feeling, as if someone were persistently tugging at my hair.

‘What is this? My neck feels strangely cold.’

Like the calm before a storm, the silence felt ominous. I once again surveyed the deck but still found nothing unusual and headed back to my cabin.

Several more days passed. Now Ashurana was expected to be very close. I convinced myself that the strange feeling had been unfounded and finally relaxed a little.

Then, the System triggered an event after a long time.
