How the Villainous Consort Avoids His Death Ending - Chapter 66.2
At Tristan’s signal, Sir Mildred, waiting nearby, saluted with a solemn expression. Under his command, the knights scattered across the deck and issued orders in perfect coordination.
At last, the three Hezekia ships began moving with terrifying composure through the turbulent waves and chaotic smoke.
The red signal flag atop the flagship unfurled fully against the sky. The two other Hezekia ships, spaced evenly, fired their signal flares into the air in response. Tristan’s sharp gaze swept across the scene. Soon, a brief command was issued.
“Turn the flagship to port. The others maintain their current approach angles!”
As the flagship twisted its massive hull and turned sharply, a strong northwesterly wind suddenly rushed in. The sails of the flagship caught the wind fully, slicing through the water at a frightening speed. The six pirate ships blocking the path wobbled in panic.
Another Hezekia ship charged through the waves, driving the pirate ships ahead. The last Hezekia ship released a smoke bomb to obscure the enemy’s vision and block the rear.
Amid the thick smoke and wild, unbridled wind, the disoriented pirate ships were gradually pushed toward the southern tip of the bay.
There, a deep bay hugged by cliffs, as if carved by a sword, awaited.
Tristan, scrutinizing the situation, raised his voice.
“Now. Form the blockade!”
The three Hezekia ships turned almost simultaneously, nimbly blocking the bay entrance. As the three massive ships lined up like sea walls, showing their sides, the pirate ships at the cliffs’ base became completely trapped inside the bay.
For a moment, the flagship deck was deathly silent.
Breaking the quiet, Sir Mildred’s voice echoed across the water.
“Flame of Hezekia, ready.”
Soldiers along the sides of the ships had already hoisted large bronze barrels, aiming them at the pirate ships. Dark green powder sprinkled over the sticky gray liquid inside the barrels glimmered.
Tristan nodded decisively and raised his hand. Instantly, the massive bronze barrels lifted and the first fire barrel shot toward the pirate ships.
Shush-shush-shush!
Kwaaaang!
The first projectile tore through the air and exploded mid-flight with a loud roar. The black-gray liquid mixed with flying fragments, igniting into red flames that engulfed the side of a pirate ship.
Before a scream could escape from the enemy, the black sail was devoured by the flames. The deck appeared to boil as it burned, and the acrid scent of smoke and burning wood spread with the wind.
“Prepare—fire!”
Without pause, the Flame of Hezekia targeted its second victim.
Whoooosh!
The projectile landing between two pirate ships shattered on the incoming waves. The liquid ignited into flames as it spread across the water. For a moment, there was silence.
“Ugh… aaaaaah!”
Kukukwakwak!
With an explosion, the two pirate ships engulfed in flames were torn apart. The third projectile was launched immediately.
“Put out the fire! Pour water!”
“H-Help…”
Screams echoed as pirates rolled across the decks and leapt into the sea. The chain of fire spread rapidly to other ships.
“The fire… it… it will not go out!”
“Aaaah!”
The flames refused to subside, riding the waves and tearing into the sides of the pirate ships. The fourth projectile exploded mid-air, covering four or five small ships. Sails caught fire, yards collapsed, and ships crumbled. The remaining pirate ships twisted and turned desperately to escape, but their retreat had long been blocked.
The dark blue sea had transformed into a hell of fire. The only sounds left were the pirates’ wails and the roaring flames spreading with the wind.
