The Abbot looked at Noah and smiled faintly.

“Ah, no. I am still only a trainee with many shortcomings.”

“Noah, this year, take your perpetual vows and become a true monk.”

“Me, really?”

Noah’s face filled with emotion, and at the sight of him, a deeper smile spread across the Abbot’s face.

The Klades Royal Palace was filled with red roses in full bloom and green trees, more beautiful than ever. But King Rigor, who had lost his Crown Prince to the continuing war, was sunk in grief and had shut himself in his room for nearly a month, staying locked away.

“Your Majesty, at this rate your health will suffer. You must at least eat something.”

The ministers, worried that they might lose even the king at this rate, gathered and tried to persuade him. But King Rigor’s gaze, filled with rage, was fixed somewhere far away. Then he clenched his fist and spat out in a low, grinding voice.

“Aiden Christopher Vertex.”

“……”

“I will surely tear that bastard apart and kill him.”

King Rigor spat out a monologue full of boiling vengeance in his dead son’s room.

“That man seems to have truly sold his soul to the devil. Otherwise, how could he win every single time like that?”

“Is there no way for any of us to strike at Liber?”

At King Rigor’s anguished cry, the ministers hesitated for a moment. Then they carefully tried to persuade the king.

“You must wait until we find that man’s weakness.”

“Hah…”

King Rigor let out a long sigh at the helplessness and defeat that had come over him. It was then. Duke Hans, who had been standing silently beside the king holding his breath, stepped forward and carefully spoke.

“One of the spies we sent to the Liber Empire has brought back a piece of information from Humore.”

“Grand Duke Humore of the Liber Empire?”

The eyes of everyone in the room turned at once toward Duke Hans.

“Speak quickly. What is this information?”

“Crown Prince Aiden’s childhood was somewhat complicated.”

“How so?”

“From the age of six,  the Crown Prince lived for a full eight years at the Benia Monastery in the border region.”

“Why?”

“Almost nothing is known about that. But the important thing is that there is said to be one omega whom Crown Prince Aiden followed almost like a parent at the monastery.”

King Rigor opened his eyes narrowly and fell silent for a moment. Duke Hans looked at the king for a moment, then carefully spoke.

“Why not take that omega as a hostage? Striking a monastery in a very remote corner of the border region is no difficult task, and bringing back a single omega is far easier than a war, is it not?”

King Rigor, who had finished thinking while listening to Duke Hans’s words, slowly nodded his head. Then he looked at Duke Hans with gleaming eyes.

The Kalis imperial palace was abuzz with a tremendously grand banquet. The banquet held splendidly today was to celebrate Aiden, who had recently undergone his coming-of-age ceremony. The young ladies and noblewomen of the most distinguished noble houses began to enter the banquet hall one after another with fluttering hearts.

The orchestra, called the finest in the Liber Empire, began to play a lively waltz to match the mood of the banquet. The stirring atmosphere inside the banquet hall seemed to speak for the hearts of those who could not hide their excitement.
